How young is to young for a tatoo?

My mil is taking my sil (15) for a tatoo on Saturday, now I know my mil hates them and my sil is very spoilt and if she nag's enough she always gets what she wants but I honestly think this is a bit too far, I personally love body art and if I wasn't a whimp I would have another tatoo tomorrow but I just feel 15 is way to young! I told her my thoughts to which my mil replied "what can I do" well she's a minor tell her NO!
So just wondered if anyone else would get a 15 year old a tatoo?

Here you can't get one until 18 regardless of aprental consent. So yes it's too young. same with genital piercings.

Well the mil took my sil for the tatoo they walked in and the guy wouldn't do it he said she has to be 18!

a piercing is forever. The holes do not always close.

The ONLY difference betweent the 3 is that 2 are culturally acceptable - 1 is not. And that frankly is BS.

16 is the legal age here with the patents consent, 18 without but mil just said she's going to lie and say Shes 16 anyway. My sister let my nephew get one at 16 but he was legal and he didn't bully his mum in to submission for it.
I think it is different from a piercing too as you can remove a piercing,a tatoo is for ever. Thank you all for you comments :)

I got my first tattoo at 17.. I wish my mom would have stopped me.

I think they should be adult and be 100% able to make the decision on their own. I also don't believe it is the same as peircing or circumcision. Peircing can be removed and circumcision is done in an effort to improve health (whether correct or not).

At 15 you are not fully aware of the 'type' of person you are, nor do you usually have a full sense of your own morals.

I won't be signing anything for any of my children to ever get a tattoo. They can do it on their own once they've reached adulthood.

I wouldn't allow it till my kids were 18, that's when I got mine. It's different then a piercing IMO because a piercing can be removed.

Where I live, it is 18. So yes, 15 is too young.

It's absolutely no different then piercing their ears or circumcising them. At least in this case, the 15 year old is making the decision for herself.

No way. I had my first tattoo at 19.

If my kids decided they want tattoos when they are older, they can wait until they are 18. They don't stand a hope in hell of me taking them at 15, no matter how much they whine and carry on.
