Thanks everyone for the comments. I sure hope this goes away, but I think I'm in it for the long haul! :( I guess I'll just deal with it and hope that the symptoms die down soon, and certainly go away after the birth!! Thanks again everyone!

Yes, I had severe pain in my left wrist leading into my thumb. I didn't get the pain until later in pregnany probably at about 7 months. My babies are 5 months now and I still have pain. It is slowly getting a little better. My OB/GYN to me that it is carpel tunnel caused by swelling while pregnant. I've been sleeping with a wrist brace. I hope this helps.

Hello! First of all, congratulations on your pregnancy. I have five children and my carpel tunnel started about 3 months into my first pregnancy and had the pain in each subsequent pregnancy. I slept on my back (I normally like to sleep on my stomach) and placed my arms on pillows beside me. I would check with your doctor. The symptoms do get better after the birth. Mine didn't completely go away but got so much better. Good luck!!

Hi there hun, i suffered badly with carpel tunnel pain through my 2nd pregnancy and early on in this one too. With the 2nd pregnancy i was prescribed a wrist splint from maternity services and returned it a few weeks after the birth. I also have some arthritic pains in my wrist so have splints already, happily i can report my pain disappeared by about wk 16 so it could still go away..It should go completeley after the birth. I'd just mention it to yr midwife next visit and see if they can prescirbe those splints to use at night... Good luck and hope that helped oh and i'm 24wks into my pregnancy and still no pain lol xx

Hello Pam,
I did have a similar problem. When I asked my doctor about it she said that unfortunately there was nothing to do for it because it was a result of the nerves in my back being pinched from how the baby was positioned. I will say that I feel for you because it does "suck" however, know that it WILL go away for sure once baby is born. The things I did to help it not seem so bad were to soak it in warm water, have my husband massage it (sometimes that was painful though too) and when I did get prenatal massages I told them about it and they had temporary solutions. Good luck!

The pain in the hand is on the top of the hand though, not on the inside of the wrist where the carpal tunnel syndrome is. Did any of you have the pain on the top of the hand? It's difficult to write with my hand as well because that little bit of pressure and the hand position makes it painful!!

I had carpel tunnel syndrome in both hands while pregnant which caused problems with me work as I am a musician.
I used to regularly bathe by hands and arms in luke warm water but what did work for me was when I slept having pillows on both sides of me and resting my hands and forearms on them while I slept. Felt strange at first but soon got used to it. Sx

Yep, I had that. My right hand would have severe tingling--almost like it was falling asleep, but painful. My index finger, middle finger and thumb would swell and I would lose feeling. I talked to my doctor and he said it was a pinched nerve in my neck. He said I should see a chiropractor or a physical therapist. I started seeing a chiropractor and it worked! Hope that helps!
