I am at 38 weeks now, was told all along I was going to go early, and now Im told I will be at my due date (March 5 or later). I started my leave from work this past Saturday and the days are just getting longer for me. Any advice on the best way to spend my time? Days are just too long!

Hi! Wehn I was about that long I went on to half days at work. I went to Walmart and bought a bunch of those wooden kids toys from the art section and painted them for my sons room. It was fun and tedious and kept me busey. Have you considerd scrap booking? I used to do that too!

Do window shopping and walk around. Do some rest and pamper yourself since soon you won't have much time to do anything for yourself but you'll enjoy every moment of being a mom. Be active as it will make the labor go smoother.

Melissa When I took time off of work after my son was born I thought that the days were too long too. But I never had to take time off of work when he wasn't here yet! Thank god but what I did was used during the times when I didn't have company and my son was sleeping is I took time for myself I also took time to bake.

First, remember that the doctor doesn't really know when you'll have the baby. You can still have it early. You're full term now. So don't start any big jobs. The baby may surprise you and still come this month. You don't want to have a half done job waiting for you to finish after you come home from the hospital. I agree with the others who say try to walk. However, that never worked with any of my babies. One idea of something to do is to sit down and write a letter to your baby. Explain what you're feeling, how excited you are, what you hope life will be like with him/her.

Are you nesting at all? I know I cleaned a lot towards the end, in fact the day I went into labor I scrubbed the bathtub. I know it doesn't sound fun but when you get home from the hospital you will really appreciate an already-clean house.  Do something nice for yourself too, like get a pedicure.

I agree with many of the other replies just enjoy doing all the things you like while you have the free time cos once they are born your world is turned upside down and a good amount of peace is hard to come by.

Enjoy your rest as it will not be long and you will wish for the peace. Before baby number 1 we all have the tiedest house with every thing just perfect but no one tells us to stock our freezer with some healthy home preprared meals. Reality will be that we all have the days when all we do is try and comfort a very unsettled baby and the last thing on our minds is preparing a meal as well. It is great to be able to open the freezer and have a nice easy meal.

Honestly, do anything you can to pamper yourself these next few weeks b/c you will not have any time for yourself in the weeks to come...Also, I agree w/ everyone else on the exercising, it helps a ton & makes your days go faster, if you don't have anywhere to walk in your neighborhood, then go to a shopping center & "window shop"...

I wrote baby journals to both my kids through my pregnancies and then into their childhood. My kids are now old enough to read them and they think they are pretty cool. Sleep!!! You'll wish for is later! LOL

hi i know how you feel, i had faulse labour about 4 weeks before i was due so i went on leave early because my body was telling me to slow down. i went crazy i washed all my baby clothing and ironed it. changed the nursery around and everything then i realised that soon i wont have time to do the things i loved. i got a hair cut, went to the movies, caught up with friends and family but no matter what you do you still go crazy wondering when the big day will be, so just relax and tie up any loose ends. i was told i would come early as my false labour was so early but in the end my daughter came out 4 days late. also try and see if your husband (if you have one) can take some extra time off work because in the last couple of weeks you get emotional and its good to have someone there to talk to. my name is michelle and my number is 0431102569 if you need someone to talk to

I felt the same way when I went off work, The days seemed so long and I was so bord. I know you will hear it alot but the best advice I can give is to rest alot! even if your just watching a movie/t.v and off your feet. Because when your baby comes you wont have time to. I thought "I will have lots of time while there young" but thats not the case because even if your baby is sleeping alot for you where you have free time to rest yourself you wont because you will be visiting family and friends who all want to see the new bundle of joy. Also you can make sure your babys room is all ready for there home comming, catch up on cleaning - my house was spotless before I had my daughter ... now theres almost no time to clean. Scrapbooking is good too it will take a hour or so out of your day.

Exercise!! I did the same thing, I stopped work 3 weeks before my due date and I spent them on the couch sleeping.  It just made me more tired and the waiting was really tough.  Go for walks or join a prenatal yoga class or exercise class.  You will be glad you did when it comes time to start labour!

I know u probably don't want 2 but try and get some exercise, it'll help 2 bring the baby on (bouncing on a ball is gd) and at least it might use some of that energy you have so you can get a decents nights sleep 2.
