Does anyone have any methods that worked to speed up the process of going into labor. This is my 4th child. Sex has never worked for me in the past and I am so ready to have this baby!

OMGSH I have tried everything since 37weeks!! walking, sex, eating a buttload of pineapple, spicy food, primrose oil, walking, swimming, jogging in place, castor oil(with my 1st, this is my 2nd, and i had to get induced a week after her duedate even after using castor oil), I'm 39 in a half weeks now and still waiting, I hate to say it but i think with claims of anything working is a myth, i think it just coincidentally happens for some women bc i have been trying all these things in abundance for weeks, so sorry to say i dont believe anything will work. I am getting induced 1day after my duedate if i dont have her beforehand because my husbands in the military so the doctors arent making me wait any longer than that... Just wait it out or set up an induction date, lol thats all you can really do...Congrats

The last 4 weeks of my pregnancy felt like time moved in slow motion. Find ways to distract your mind. Due dates are always tentative. Babies come on their schedule. Exercise, relaxation, massage, meditation are all great. Refocusing your mind is best. Watching a pot boil does not make it boil faster! I tried the exercise ball and dancing. It worked by helping me get my mind off the process which proved to be long and challenging. Ultimately they had to give me medicine to speed up the process. Finally they had to do an emergency C section. Just because something did not work in the past does not mean it will not work now

I ended up having to be induced but some of my friends found Evening Primrose gel capsules helpful and placed them up as close to the cervix as possible. Didn't work for me but good luck.

Try some Indian food, followed by a nice walk...and some sex to follow it up! Even if sex hasn't help in the past, it will still help think out the cervix. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!! Excited for you!

I did the sex thing that Toni Noranjo-Torres mentioned, as my Doctor said the same thing. Worked like a charm both times I tried it!

Some of the things suggested will speed things up IF you are already in early stages of labor, but they won't bring on pains. The castor oil might, but I've also heard of cases where all they got from that was a good case of diarea. With my second, we tried everything you can imagine. Nothing worked. She was born at 42 weeks. The placenta was beginning to die, but my doctor had his dates wrong and thought she was due 3 weeks later. If she'd have been born earlier he'd have treated my labor like it was premature! God works in mysterious ways. Just be patient. Baby will come at just the right time.

honestly nothing will work unless that baby is ready, I had induction massages, chiropractic adjustments, SEX, I walked and walked and walked. I was dilated 3 and 100% effaced.............AND I STILL HAD TO BE INDUCED!!
So i don't know the secret! LOL

1st take a warm bath whish will help soften your cervix, 2nd Have really intense sex, when you orgasm it stimulates you muscles to help you start contracting, 3rd go for a long walk and jog slowly it will help your baby drop into postion. My great grandma was an OB nurse for over 50 years this is what she told all of us to do it has worked about 90-95% of the time.

i dont think there is any sure fire way babies come when they want to i was 50% effaced an 1 cm at 23 weeks an was like that till i got induced at 38 weeks an at 36 weeks i tried sex ,nipple stimulation, walking, an i did the castor oil twice the first time alls i did was thow up an the second time alls i had was number 3 bathroom issues, i personally dont belive that anything works except your water braking or potosine, but theres no harm in trying anything good luck

Ok please do not be offended by this comment but ill tell you what I did not once but three times when I was dialated to 2. My doctor suggested it. Have sex even though it may be uncomfotable for both of you but thats not all. Make sure he ejaculates into your vagina, semen softens the cervix and helpes dialate it. DO NOT go to the restroom after ward for an hour and put a pillow behind your bottom so it tilts up and keeps the semen in. Like I said its uncomfortable but it worked three times for me and all three times I was dialted to 2. I started feeling strong braxton hicks and then labor pains about an hour to 3 hours after I did this. I have recommended this to six of my friends and it also worked for them!!! Its not the sex that makes you go into labor its the semen and whats in it!!!

i know you are very excited and anxious but the best thing to do is what and let the process happen on its own you will be glad you did, plus there are negatives for trying to speed things up & no one wants to complicate something already so complicated *especially with someone we love sooooooooo much GOOD LUCK & IT WILL HAPPEN

If you do the castor oil thing (which I did and WORKED) take it with orange juice, drink it through a straw and constantly stir it while you're drinking it. It makes it more tolerable trust me. I used 3tbsps w/ about 6oz of oj. Good luck!

I took Caster Oil as advised by my midwife when I was 2wks overdue and went into labour that evening. We had tried the sex, sex, sex and I was constantly walking all over town. After two stretch & sweeps from the midwife and remaining at 2cm for over 2wks I gave in to her advice that Caster Oil would work. Just clear it with your healthcare provider!

Eek, castor oil really does work, but keep in mind, it's OIL. Thick, yucky oil! I used it with my first pregnancy because I was overdue. Though it worked, I haven't considered it again! I don't know if you know this or not, so I'll throw it out there--castor oil works because it gets your bowels moving, and, as you know, all those muscles work together in childbirth...so you could try something more pleasant to consume that normally gets your bowels moving. I've heard rave reviews of alfredo sauce from Olive Garden working...having worked there in the past, knowing the ingredients, and having consumed a LOT of it, I can say that it seems a logical idea! Good luck!

With my first child I didn't do anything because I didn't really care when he came, but my second son I tried EVERYTHING!!! I walked A LOT and tried cohosh. Anyways, I went into labor 6 days before my due date. I don't know if that was from walking and the cohosh or if it was just because he was my 2nd child and they usually come before their due dates. My doctor stripped my membranes too. Ask your doctor to do that for you. My doctor said if stripping the membranes is going to work, it'll work within 2 days. Good luck!

Sure fire, Castor Oil. I t really does work. Make have some very unpleasant side effects.... other than that, I put myself into labor walking, I went to the mall, alone and walked at a fast pace, then went Groery shopping and when I got home and was putting away the groceries I realized these finally were not braxton Hicks contractions. Sex may not work.... but some self pleasuring that guarantees an O! is quite helpful, the sperm just helps soften and dialate. (Sorry for all the TMI : )

My Mother has always told me walking as much as possible helps...so regardless of how I wanted to just sit around all day, I made a conscious effort to walk at least 30 minutes to an hour a day. If you're a swimmer, I swam laps for 30 minutes a day when I started to dilate. I gave birth 2 weeks early, so it might have helped! Good luck to you!
