I am looking for unique baby name suggestions. Not weird, or made up, but rarely used ones.

Our daughter is Annika Rose. We get tons of compliments on her name. It is of Scandinavian origin and it means full of grace. There are two ways to pronoounce it. We say AN-i-ka, but some say AHN-i-ka. Rose is her middle name; named after a beloved family member. Good luck finding a name and keep us posted and let us know your decision!

My son's name is Jory Michael (it's from VC Andrews 'Flowers in the Attic') and he plans on naming his son Julien Nathaniel. My daughter is Peggy Sue (NOT after the song!) She keeps changing her mind about what she wants to name her future children.

My son is Aaden. my nieces are Emily, Katalina and Haylee and my nephew's name is Robert.

I thought Aaden was unique but it ended up being the number one name of 2008.

I like the names Landon, Spencer, Caleb, Lennon, Gavin and Alexander for boys and for girls I like Ava, Jade, Kadence and Lyla.

Jordan, Taylor, Kennedy and Avery are good unisex names.

How about Lydia, that is what my daughters' name is and you don't hear it too often.

It's a beautiful name, and it's not weird.

I don't have any name suggestions, just my two baby name "rules". The first is that if you can realistically believe that the name would sound respectable if your child say became a senator, or a clergyman, or other public figure who needs to be taken seriously, then it passes the first test. The second is that if you could yell the name off the back porch while calling her to dinner, and it would not evoke snickers from every other child in the neighborhood, it passes part two. Some of my children have unusual names, but we have successfully applied both criteria. (By the way, Keiko sounds lovely.)

Thank you so much for all the help. My ten year old actually helped me find the perfect name tonight for a girl Keiko. She wanted a Japanese name, and I loved it. It means blessing. I am still unsure about a first name for a boy though.

My daughters names are - T'Schani Denilei Mary-Bett, and K'Dejia Kiriwai Connie

T'Schani - pronounced (Tasharni) means Marvellous,

Denilei - (Denilee) Not too sure of the meaning,

Mary-Bett was my two nans names so i combined them.

K'Dejia - (Kahdezha) first wife of the prophet Mohammed, apparently a great lady.

Kiriwai - (Roll the 'r' and 'ai' is 'i' so it sounds like kidiwhy.) Maori name - name of a canoe belonging to a Maori tribe.

Connie is my mother's middle name....

Maybe confusing.....but it works for me.

Maybe you could try mixing around your partner and your name to come up with something?? Goodluck with whatever you choose.

Mine daughter is Alia. "AH-lee-AH"

It's a Hebrew word meaning "To ascend." It's definitely not well known, but still made it onto the top 500 girls names lately.

Alia is also a character in the Dune books by Frank Herbert.

I like the names for girls: Lillie (starting to become common) and Abigail. Although I would spell it Abigayle. I am still waiting for a little girl some day and it was no fun naming my son because he is a JR. not much though there. But we also like the name Dexter for a boy!

I know how it feels tryin to find a name for your lil one, we couldn't choose until our lil girl was a couple of days old on April Harmony-Joan, our lil one was born in feb, Ive always liked Harmony, wanted to use it as a first name but didnt really suit,

if we had a boy, Tarquin, Kaos, Ross, Pheniox, Brodie, Julz, River

you could have Leigh for boy or girl,

the other girls names were, Olympia Rose, Pagie, Catlin, Billy-Rose (thats my cousin name), Quintina or Quintana (Queenie for short), Ocean

I like old fashion names. You might want to look through your families ancestry for interesting names also you can pick up some old books and look at the names of the characters. Ann Rice always has interesting names for her characters you might want to check out some of her books and see what names look interesting.

I love odd and unique baby names and named my 4 year old Ireland Hope. Until a child recently moved to my town, I had only ever heard or seen the name once-Kim Basinger named her daughter that.

I had the same issue as you do with finding a unique baby name, I wanted something different but not weird. I did not accomplish different. I thought I did but didn't. i have four kids, two of each. Mine are; Jenna Elizabeth, Ethan John, Elijah Riley and Hayden Emmaliegh. My suggestion is to find a name you like and give it your own spine like a little different spelling or combining two that you like.

My husband and I are both into the unique baby names. We like to switch up the spellings of the names, and we also liked some boy names for girls. We named our first son CeJae (C.J.) and if he would of been a girl the name would of been Calixta James. I know it's silly, but I really think the model that is named James King is gorgeous and my husbands middle name is James so James as a middle name just worked weather a boy or a girl.
