For my boys I wanted names that were unique and had meaning, so I went to the bible. Corban is Hebrew for "a gift devoted to God" (found in Mark 7:11) and Zain is Hebrew for "weapon" or "sword" from the verse in Ephesians talking about taking up the whole armor of God (Ephesians 6:1717 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:). I liked the idea of remind him to take up the word of God every time he heard his name.

I HAVE THE 80'S BABIES...SO, OF COURSE, THEY ARE THE NORM---KENNETH EDWARD~~ NAMED AFTER BOTH GRANDS [HIS & MY DADS]. THEN, WE PICKED DAVID BENJAMIN~~1st NAME AFTER HIS GREAT-GRAND; THE 2nd-- JUST BECAUSE WE LIKED IT. NOW, WE COULD THINK OF NEW ONES; LESS COMMON, BUT WE WILL SAVE THOSE NAMES FOR OUR GRANDS~~ONE DAY DOWN THE LINE. MY SIS IS 'DELECA--french [D'LISA] GAYLE'; NOT A COMMON NAME, BY FAR! HER 1st GRAND & MY 1st GREAT-NIECE IS 'RHILEE MAE--2007'! WITH READING SOME BEFORE...I'M LIKING THE NAME///McKINLEE {McKINLEIGH}. THIS SOUNDS GOOD---McKINLEE KAY!!

My daughter's name is Arianna Marie. The other names that I had picked out for her were Halynn and Hadley. Not sure why but when she was born she just looked like an Arianna.

My daughter is named Malia...it was rare 2 years ago but now with President Obama's having a daughter with that name, it may become more common??? It is a Hawaiian name I heard years ago. Her middle name is Kohana which is Japanese and means "little flower"...I thought it sounded kinda Hawaiian and went well with Malia.

we named our first son Colin, which is becoming more popular. Our second son is named Cohen, we spelled it like the last name instead of the traditional irish way of Cowan.

Good Luck finding the name that fits your little one!!

I named my girls JeAnna Marie and Jaycine Nicole...I've come across some JeAnna's (usually spelled Gianna) but never a Jaycine. My son's name is Pierre he's a junior so we call him PJ. I wanted to keep the "J" theme going by name him Jake (always loved that name for some reason) but decided to go the junior route.

start with the spelling pick out a nam you like and maybe you can spell it differant. my daughter is natalee dawn. it means born at christmas and it is also the female form of nathan. which is my husbands name and his middle name is lee ... so we spell it differant to fit us both ... my middle name is dawn. and she is even the most perfect mixture of us both in her looks and her personality.

My husband and I got a book called "100,000 Baby Names" It was really helpful and showed not only the names and meanings, but also the different ethnic spellings and variations. We decided to name our son Oliver Joseph David, Joseph was my husband's grandfather (also my uncle and great grandfather), and David is my father and my husband's uncle... We decided to choose a neutral name for the first name so that Oliver wouldn't get confused by different sides of the family wanting to call him different names, and then found out that both of our maternal great grandfathers were named Oliver! My husband and I both had very uncommon names for our generation (Colin and Lydia), so neither of us were averse to an uncommon name for our son. If we have a girl, we are planning to name her Priscilla Belle Darlene.

My son is Soren James. I wanted to name him Stephen York, but my husband wasn't fond of either of those. He wants to name our daughter Penelope Jane or Claire something. I like Eliza Nell (my middle name is Elizabeth and my grandma's real name is Nelly) or really anything, besides Beth, that comes from Elizabeth.

I love odd and unique baby names and named my 4 year old Ireland Hope. Until a child recently moved to my town, I had only ever heard or seen the name once-Kim Basinger named her daughter that.

I had the same issue as you do with finding a unique baby name, I wanted something different but not weird. I did not accomplish different. I thought I did but didn't. i have four kids, two of each. Mine are; Jenna Elizabeth, Ethan John, Elijah Riley and Hayden Emmaliegh. My suggestion is to find a name you like and give it your own spine like a little different spelling or combining two that you like.

My husband and I are both into the unique baby names. We like to switch up the spellings of the names, and we also liked some boy names for girls. We named our first son CeJae (C.J.) and if he would of been a girl the name would of been Calixta James. I know it's silly, but I really think the model that is named James King is gorgeous and my husbands middle name is James so James as a middle name just worked weather a boy or a girl.
