Last year one of my friends had that feeling...lots of pressure before any real contractions. My best friend just asked me the same question yesterday and I will tell her what my other friend was told...If you are within a month or so of your delivery...chances are that the baby has dropped and is now in the head down position.  Doesn't mean you are in labor or will be immediately...it's a natural process and some babies drop lower than others. If you are checked chances are the doctor will tell you the same. Hope this helps!

with my son, i had what u are describing the day off and on the whole day, flet like I needed to go to the bathroom, would feel so good to push but nothing, just felt like sitting there... I was having contraction but nothing painful what so ever... this went on for hours, my midwives were here so they checked me periodically and I was progressing but this is all I had, till they finally decided to break my water and get on with it cause was 8cm and it was 10pm at night.... I would definately go get checked. they do not mind you coming in for any reason at all, they would rather u do then sit at home and worry and wonder..... Let us know how u make out! Good luck with it all, congrats and I hope all goes smoothly for you and babes...

I would hope you're close to your due date.  More than likely it's baby moving down in to your pelvis.  If you're still preterm (less than 37 weeks) I would call your doctor.  It could be that you are contracting more than you know, or that you have a urinary tract infection.  That is something really common in pregnancy.  I hope this helped.

oh yeah honey i would deff call sounds like you might have a baby really soon my water never broke on its own and if your water does break i hope you can handle it that is the worst i think not to scare you cuz its not that bad my first took 10 min the whole thing and my second took 15.5 hours and both times no meds at all so its completely doable but yeah honey you might even skip calling unless you want to but im sure that the hospital will tell you to come in but yes i think you are in labor so id get on my way lol that is what it feels like is you have to go to the bathroom if your dialated enough then they would tell you not to try or push until closer depending on how dialated you are so get your bags hon its time...congrats im excited for you

If you are having some contractions and pressure in the rectal area you are fine.  I was very surprised by the very same pressure you're talking about when I went into labor with my first.  No one ever talks about the pressure...  :)  It is all normal for regualr labor.  (I'm assuming from comments below that you are close to do an the like).  Good luck!

it could be early to beginning active labor with my first i never had any contractions of any kind no braxtion hicks nothing call the hospital and see what you doc says congrats and i hope your bundle comes soon but i think its labor you need to atleast get your cervex checked if anything and monitored for a little bit

im just worried that the feeling is not normal i am having some contractions but none that hurt is this normal what happens if this is labour i have never done this before so its all new to me

i understand light contractions doesn really define much its kind of how far apart they are and stuff like that but pressure mostly (that i have experianced) is dealing with labor start timeing your contractions if you havent but when you are having your baby you will have alot of pressure and sensation down low and in the rectal area kind of like you have to go use the restroom it probably would be a good thing to call the hospital and see if your doc wants you to come in for monitoring and dont be to worried about it its all natural the onlything i think you should worry about is bleeding with my first all i had was horrable cramps that were like menstral cramps like 10x worse and i felt sick in a way and with my second i had gotten induced so contractions were new to me then also and pressure was too but with both when i got closer i had pressure felling like i had to poop do you feel that way

i have not had any bleeding and my water has not broken the pains with the contractions are like menstrual cramps but not a pain i cant bear earlier in the day when i felt like i had to use the restroom i felt like i had to b.m but i went and nothing and still that sensation is here

You can usually call the hospital and talk to a triage nurse in the labor and delivery unit.  Call your hospital and ask to speak with someone.  They'll let you know whether you should go in or not.  Good luck

If you feel that you need to go to the hospital, then you should go. What's the worse that could happen? You get sent home.

Sabrina, congrats on hopefully being close to your due date.  It really can depend...the pressure.  With my second baby, I had a lot of pressure once my son dropped.  Remember, that baby takes up a lot of room and squishes a lot of your insides....I would ask your doctor just in case you're worried though.  Good Luck

is this a sign maybe i should go to the hospital
