The first question would be how tall are you and your babys dad? Kids seem to go in highth as their parents I have had chunky short kids and very tall skinny ones they all are same parents. My children are always in 110th percentile in height and some are little and some are big depends on the family. I had a doctor tell me I f a child is over weight they tell us to put them on a diet if they are to skinny feed them more what if they are to tall or to short do we cut their legs off or add legs onto them NONONO. I f your little one looks healthy and is doing good just let him grow the way god has intended.

Our son was in the 90% in his height and a little under 50% for his weight. I attribute it to his dad being tall and I'm pretty skinny myself. At our 18month appointment, we finally saw his height and weight beginning to even out.

It could just be your child's height and build that is doing this. If there are a lot of tall thin people in both yours and your husbands family don't be surprised if he is growing in this manner. Is the doctor worried about his height/weight ratio? If not I wouldn't be either. My daughter was 70 percentile across the board and my son is 97 percentile in height and 50 percentile in weight and the doctor just said it looks like we are going to have a tall thin boy. If your son is eating and drinking properly and seems to be hitting his milestones appropriately then don't worry about this. My brother was always the "skinny kid" through grade, middle and high school and at the age of eighteen he filled out and became a strapping 6 ft tall, 225 lbs man. So it all depends on genetics and body type.

I have an almost 9 month old boy, he eats constantly but is only in 26% for his weight and 90th for his height, The doctors are not worried as long as they both keep increasing together. I think its just the way he was ment to be long and skinny.

They won't let themselves starve. He will fuss when he is hungry then he won't have any other choice but to eat. Try supplementing with formula or juice. If it continues I would talk to your pediatrician

Just give him a little at a time.

If you give him small amounts at a time you will see any reaction. Lips going red ( in a rash sort of way) is a pretty good indication. Like my girl had a reaction to egg yolk about that age. So I left it for a few months and tried again and she was just fine(no reaction). If we live in fear we will miss out on so much. It's hard. I know. Whats right for one though may not be right for another. Again talk to your local GP for peace of mind tommorrow. He looks pretty healthy to me though. Lol

I think because tots are moving around a bit more at this age, they are most likely they are just burning fat. I think it's pretty normal though?Talk to your local GP or baby clinic nurse for peace of mind if it continues to niggle at you.

Have you talked to a pediatrician about it? My daughter was like that. She ate all the time, but didn't seem like she was gaining any weight, but her weight was good. Have you tried him on pablum yet?

Totally normal. That is how they grow during the 2nd half of the first year. My oldest was 20 lbs at 4 mos and only 22 lbs at one year!

I had the same concern, daughter is in the 90% on height but 50% on weight. My best recommendation is talk to your childs doctor.
