I gave birth 5 months ago but my belly button is still not going in

Hi all.. i've did a check and true enough i have a hernia. It doesnt sound right. And im terribly frightened of surgeries.. Should i just leave it and ignore ?

I had the same problem. Mine turned out to be a very small hernia. A word of caution: Make sure you shop around for a great surgeon. I went to the first surgeon that my primary recommended. Bad idea! He was an oncologist. I'm sure he may be a great one,but he is concerned with removing cancer not cosmetics. I feel that if I would have gone to a general sugeon my results would have been much better. Although my hernia was resolved, the surgeon stiched my incision too tight and I pretty much have no belly button. I felt like a monster. I'm still coming to terms with my body almost four years after the birth of my beautiful son.

I gave birth in January this year and mine is also still out. Mine was painful during pregnancy but is ok now although gets a bit sore very occasionally. I have seen a surgeon and it is a umbilical hernia and will be getting it surgery in December to correct it. Some which are not too bad can just be left. You should get it checked by your GP though as if a bad one it can become an emergency if the bowel or stomach get caught in it. This sounds weird but I can push on mine and it sort of sucks back in but soon pops back out again. Good luck and keep me posted on how you go.

Hi, when I had my baby my aunt- a midwife and my friend advised me to tie my belly. My aunt has 4 children and a flat belly, my friend has 2 children and a flat belly. Its so uncomfortable having something tied around you but I guarantee you a flat tummy forever. You just do this for 3 weeks 24 hours a day soon after giving birth and get fabulous results

Hi Nadia,
I have had two babes now and my belly button is still out there:)
My youngest is 2! I had a c-section and thought perhaps this was the reason.
Give your body more time to get back to its pre-preganancy, remember it took 9 months to put on all that babiness.
Give yourself a few more months.
I did basic pilates, at home, and skipping.
20kgs?... I lost that in a year! You should be the one telling us HOW!!!

Hernia ? is it health concerning ?Maybe i should get a check up on that. I've actually googled it up the moment you mention it.

It doesnt hurt as well for mine. Its just not a pretty sight either! My belly is not sagging thou, it just look like I'm 4 month pregnant with a very inverted belly. So inverted that i still look very much pregnant.. And my belly is quite hard. unlike normal UN pregnant belly's...

My son is 11 months old and the dark line that I got on my belly that pregnant women can get still had not gone away completely. Everyone is different and your body may just be taking a bit to get things back. I would however recommend getting it checked if it is causing you any pain since you may have a hernia. Otherwise give your body time. It took almost 10 months to make a baby, it can take at least that long to recover your body!

all women are different, with my third child i had the same issue and hes 7months now and its taking me for forever but i am back to normal i did a lot of work outs and what not you pretty much have to take it day by day and work on it i hope all works out and you get to the way you want

I have the same thing, but from twins! I've been told it's a hernia. I had a friend that had one, and had it fixed through surgery. Her's hurt, mine doesn't, but it's not pretty. lol! 5 months is still early, your body will still go through changes to get back to normal, I wouldn't worry too much! :)
