My hair seems like it is steady coming out and I don't know what to do about it.

Thanks for all the advice, another question I have is... did anyone take prenatal vitamins to help with the hair loss and if so did it or not????? If you did take them how long did you take them for????

My hair started falling out by the handfuls a few months after my sons were born, both times. It should quit in a few months, but if it keeps it up, and you have any other issues like trouble losing weight...I'd have my thyroid checked. I was diagnosed w/hypothyroidism after my first son was born, and I ignored it for a long time because I thought it was typical post pregnancy stuff. My doc told me it's pretty common, post-labor. Chances are though, it's just hormones. I had the same kind of shedding the 2nd time around!

I have an 11 month old daughter and my hair started falling out when she was 4 months old and continued to fall out until she was about 10 months old. I took prenatals, hair vitamins...tried everything and nothing worked. Those hormones just have a mind of their own. Don't worry, it grows back, then you have all these tiny hairs poking out everywhere :) But it's totally worth it!

my baby is the same age and i took prenatal vitamins 3 months before i got pregnant and i am still taking them while i am breast feeding, i do not think it makes a difference, my husband asked me if i was going bald, lol no it happens to most women and is usually a bit worse for us women of colour. So hang in there and congratulations and enjoy motherhood

YES! Im sorry to say...but yes it is very nomal and very annoying. Something about the change in hormones. Your hair will also fall out more when you stop breastfeeding. I just kept a broom in my bathroom...and tried to brush over a garbage can. Good Luck and Congrats on your new baby!!

Your hormones are still changing so it is quite normal. But if you are really concerned about it, you can ask your doctor & they can give you the professional advice. Though that did happen to me & it went away after a while. So hang in there.

If you are worried, ask your Dr.. He/She can order a blood test if you have other symptoms of a thyroid disorder. It isn't necessarily a thyroid issue, but I do know that one symptom of a thyroid disorder can be losing hair. I have one, and I shed horribly, but I also had other symptoms.

Yes, this is normal. It is hormonal changes in your body that makes your hair shed. The best shampoo to use is the Main and tails from Walgreens. It is actually horse shapoo but it works great! it is like $7.00 a bottle of shapoo and another $7 for conditioner.

yea..same thing happened to me after i had my first child 5 years ago. your scalp/hair is catching up on the shedding that it didnt do while you were pregnant.. just make sure u keep it healthy and use 'doo grow' very lighlty on your scalp until the shedding stops. it really helped me a lot. i usually dont put oil on my scalp but in this case i had to.. so good luck...

It can be normal, but it can also be caused by a thyroid disorder. Thyroid disorders are very common among women, you just never hear about them. I have hypothyroidism and they found it when my daughter was 2 months old. Pregnancy and child birth can do strange things to your system.. If you are worried about it, ask your dr.

Its totally normal. Its all your hormones changing around. It will stop, there is nothing you can do about it, but it will stop.

yes i believe so. When i had my two kids my hair got really thick in pregnancy then shortly after they were a few months it seemed each time i brushed my hair i could make some makeup brushes!! no worries if it seems real bad longer than 6 months than ask ur doctor

It is normal but get a blood test at your docs just in case asI had same prob. The docs said it was nothing and normal to lose hair after baby but i insisted on a blood test and they found out that I had post partum thyroiditis which causes your hair to fall out a lot more than normal and for a long period of time. Mine finally cleared up after 6 months and a single course of radioactive ionide treatment at hospital.

yeah its normal.

Its the hormones. You can't do much to stop the hairloss. But you can encourage healthy regrowth by eating a hair, skin & nails diet.

It's normal. Your hormones during pregnancy keep your hair from naturally shedding. (People lose about 100-150 hairs a day) As your hormones balance back out, it will slow to a normal rate of hair loss. No need to panic... Just brush your hair a lot to help keep random shedding to a minimum.

Yes this is normal. I believe that it's because when you have your baby it takes all your nutrients and if you are breastfeeding that is another reason why. it's also to do with the changes in your hormones don't worry it will grow back eventually. mine fell out for quite a while

I shed so much I thought I was going to be bald. It is normal, don't panic. It will slow down.

There is nothing you can do about it. It's your hormones and yes it's normal! Our son will be a year on the 26th and I'm still shedding LOL! Don't worry :)
