I think it's great that at that age you both were/are mature to take on that responsibility. Just because you get married that young does not mean that you won't be able to handle it and you will end up in divorce. People have the wrong perception. Me on the other hand, I was engaged at 24 and married and a mom by 25. I wasn't even dating at 16 lol.

I was 18 when I married and had a baby. It has been 11 years and we are still going strong. I now have a 11 year old and a baby and we are trying for one more. So don't let people pull you down by saying its not going to work out. I love my husband and he loves me. It's not easy at all. I hope everything works out for you. Good Luck!

I was married at 18,husband was 19. We were not pregnant or anything, (didnt have our 1st till I was almost 21) we just wanted to move out of our current living situations. It was VERY hard for the first few years....but I can say today is much easier! We have been married for 13 years! Good luck to you!

My husband and I got married when I was 18 and he was 20. After 7 years together, we have a gorgeous one year old son. Getting married young isnt for some people, but we wouldnt have it any other way. I am very proud to say that we got married young and although we have many years left, we recently celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary and couldnt be happier.

I once had a friend who married at 15, she stayed married , had 2 kids, after he passed away she remarried, she told me how blessed she was to have met and married 2 wonderfull men in her life.

I have been with my Husband since i was 17 (am now 24) we were engaged after one yr but due to finances we had to wait a few yrs before we could get married. I to am sick of ppl making it seem as though we didn't know what we were doing My three children are happy healthy and very very loved we make time everyday to go for a family walk,we run our own business, Our kids are in private school were building our home and do not live off the government. Being married or having kids young means we have so much longer to enjoy every part of our kids lives. Sorry got a bit off track but am a bit tired of strangers judging ppl have no problem commenting on "all these young Mums"

I was married at the age of 18, I was still in High School, a senior. I got married, graduated and had my first child all in the same year. I am still married to the same man. we are very happy :) We have been married for 20 years.

I think it's sweet that people get married young. One of my clients from work's daughter and her husband were engaged at 16 and their parents made them wait til Dorothy was 18 and they are still together and still nice to each other after 30 years. Obviously some people's marriages don't work out as they get older and want different things but the divorce rate is allegedly 50%, I'm sure a lot of those people were older when they got married. I'm 22 this year and we're getting married that's not really that young but whatever. Good on you x

I just got married and I'm 19. My husband is 26 and things couldn't be any better! I met him when I had just turned 18 and he was 24 we knew eachother for 2 months and I got pregnant. People sometimes would say that I was too young but I think that when you know you want to marry someone you should go for it. Like I said I wouldn't change a thing we are happily married with a beautiful daughter and are going to start planning for another.

I didn't get married until I was 25 my husband was 29, but we knew eachother and dated off and on since I was almost 14. No one knows what a good age to get married is all we do is work hard at our marriages no matter what age we are when we get married, because that is what is important. If you talk to the older people in our lives people who have been married 40, 50+ years alot of them were married very young it wasn't uncommon to get married and have children young way back when I know my husbands grand mother was 14 when she was married and they are still living a very happy life they had their ups and downs but I don't think that has anything to do with the age they got married because its hard work no matter what age you commit to marrage. I think getting married now a days is so taboo its not cherished like it used to be when you announce your engagement ya you have happy people but you also have people who constantly ask questions like are you sure or make comments like you know its forever. I think there is less support of marriage now a days so a word to all the married women out there who will go though problems in there marriage at some point an time.. look for a support system other married couples that believe in working through the problem and also be careful who you confide in, lots of peoples solutions are just leave you don't have to put up with that. Well divorce is so common now a days that if you hear of someone getting one we are sometimes suprised but not shocked, where as a long time ago it was a devistating thing to be getting a divorce in our grandparents years it was looked down on now its just another thing eveyone does. I feel sorry for our children I hope that this dont continue on this pattern and marriage agian can be cherished.. Sorry all I got off subject there a bit, I just am passionate that marriage can still be a great thing and that with some hard work we all can make it to 40, 50+ years.. my husband was 20 when we married and i was 23. We are still married 8 years later. I think it depends on the people not their ages. A good marriage takes hard work and you can do that no matter what age you are. x

I kouldnt get married at dat age since I wasnt mature, but if the parents arent apposed to it, it is legal in some states I think, u go gurl! Im 26 now and Ive only been married fer 2 yrs... and its hard lol

My parents both were 18 when they got married they married in the february had my sister in the july my brother 3yrs later and me 10 yrs after that they were married for nearly 40yrs until my father passed away and they were very happpily married too.

Thanks for all the response. I guess I can tell you a little about myself now. I'm 18 now and have been happily married for over 2 years. We have a 20 month old son who is happy and healthy. We pay are bills on time. Own 2 cars and are paying off our house. We don't get any help form the government and family is used for date night only as baby-sisters. I am happy I got married and would not change a thing. Hell I would do it younger to the same man. I have know my husband since I was 15 and he was 20

I was just asking because a lot of people talk about how being a teen mother and married is even worse. They talk about the devoice rate and the chance of having more then one kid, but I never see any of the success stories. The ones where it turned out good and people are happy. I don't understand why people are so focused on what can go wrong. Well thanks Ladies. I appreciate it!

My husband and I met when he was 16 & I was 17. His parents were TOTALLY against us dating, because they thought I would ruin THEIR plans for him. We talked about getting married at 18 or 19 and his mom said, "over my dead body!" Due to college/financial/and crazy MIL reasons lol, we put off our wedding until we were 22. Sometimes I do wish we had just gotten married when we wanted to in the first place! Anyway, we have been together for almost 9 years with a 10 month old son! :)

Im not one of those ladies, but I have a sister who married at 16 because her boyfriend now husband was in the navy and she was not able to visit him on the ships. Then considering she was pregnant she would have not been able to take the baby to go visit. Then my momma married when she was 17 and my dad/stepdad was 20 years older...so there is no shame.. :)

Marriage is hard work no matter what the age. I met my husband when I was sixteen, he was twenty one. We married nine years later, and had our son about 2yrs after we married. Im really not even sure if getting married changed anything at all. We are just recognized as legal by the courts. It is like anything that is worth doing it will have struggles but if you are committed you will make it work. By the way I am now 32 so I have officially been with my husband for half my life, lol, and I wouldnt change a thing :)

I think it all depends on the people! my mom was 18 when she married my dad who was 20 at the time! they have been married for 32 years now and have never been close to getting a divorce! i married my husband at 22 and he was 27 we had alot of people telling us we were too young! i think it all depends on the people! i know someone who is 16 and is trying to get pregnant and get married because she thinks its the only way she can get attention... obviously she isn't in it for the right reasons! as long as you are happy then it doesn't really matter... and as long as its done legally. people in other countries get married at 16 or younger and its normal!

I think that each individual can decide for themselves when to get married. If cpls know they love each other enough to have a go at making it work, then I say do so. I personnally, was 39 when I wed.. so I didnt want the committment to someone that I wasnt ready to spend the rest of my life with. So I say each to their own. And for all of the married cpls that have made it work, kudos to u all.. ... As long as your happy, Then hold on to it, make it yours and who cares what others think. god bless

Marriage is a lot of work,whether u marry young or old. Hey i got married at 26 and my hubby is 7 yrs older so do the maths. Age though a considerable factor is not that important as far as both parties stay committed. I wish i had married younger for one i would have been done having kids i am 33 now and i still have to go once (for hubby sake) before i am done ughhhh!!!!!

I met my husband at 15 and we married when I was 19 and we have been married 20 years. Marriage can be hard work at times and you will get patches when you think what the hell am I doing here but then you turn a corner and everything is rosie. Marriage is like a rollercoaster so hold on tight!

I married my husband when I was 18 and he was 19. We've been happily married for seven years now with a two year old. Getting married young isn't for everyone, nor is it the easiest path to take in life, but it can work out :).

I didn't get married until I was 22 (everyone thought that was young and weren't scared to tell me), but, I have been with my husband since we were 16!! We are now both 30 and still going strong with 3 beautiful kids! It worked for us and I wouldn't change a thing, except, I probably would have got married younger if our finances had permitted it :-)

My husband got married to his first wife at the age of 16-17. He had three children with her, his oldest is 23. Are you going through something that you might need to talk about. For him, he regreted a few things, but then again, he would have never met me! LOL...

See Morgan my mom married my dad (who was 19) at 17, she had me at 19 and my brother at 21 and 28 years later they are still very happily married. I married my hubby at 21 and actually got asked on my wedding day if I was the bride or the bridesmaid :-)

I was olde, but my sister was 16 when she got married. Our dad (we share the same one but different moms) signed for her to get married and she seems happy enough. Her little one is just over a year and baby #2 is cooking! I'm not sure if it was the path she thought her life would take, but sometimes those are the most interesting ones. In your case, who cares what other people think of you? As long as you love your husband and kids, then let other people think what they want. I'm not an advocate of teen marriage and pregnancy, but when it happens, deal with it and move on.

Alright I can admit I may have took it the wrong way but I am used to people giving me dirty looks and thinking whore when I say I was married by 16. If it was an honesty question then the answer to it is simple.
In all states you can get married by at least 15 with parents permission and if they do not give you permission a judge will grant it if you are pregnant.

Sweetie, Laurel asked a valid question for some people, not meant to be insulting. I, myself, would have been married around the same age if it weren't for my parent's medical insurance covering me until I was 21. The answer is in most states (I'm not sure if it is all anymore) it is legal with parental consent; I'm not sure if states allow for it without.
