I was 2 weeks over due and I was induce at the hospital, which didn't work. What I did 2 weeks overdue after the failed induction attempt was drink 6 oz. of castor oil mixed with orange juice. Within 6 hours I was in full blown labor!! There was no machonium in the amniotic fluid. I did have to have a c-section though because the DR though my baby was over 10 lbs. Another thing you can try is nipple stimulation, for 2 min. intervals for like 20 min. That can help release the hormone which causes labor. If you aren't 40 weeks yet for overdue you should be patient and have faith that mother earth will bring the baby when it is mature enough to come. They say when the baby is mature enough to breath on it;s own the lungs release a chemical that starts labor. Good luck!!

I walked til my legs have out been in the hospital on an off about every other day with intense contractions that feel like I need to push everytime I go in I only dilate about half a cm the walking only lowers the baby giving you complete discomfort on your bottom castor oil works but also gives you diarrhea threw the whole thing red raspberry leaf tea I also tried it only gave me urine contractions made it hard to go pee. Sex also doesn't work unless you are already dilated effaced and that baby is lowered in position an ready to come out. Pineapple does not induce labor it only helps thin out about half a cm you would have to eat about 8 whole ones in an hour for it to dilate you more then 3 cm. non of them wise tales actually really work unless your body is ready and baby is ready there is a scientific fact that when a rain storm is coming a lot of women go into labor but a lot of these sites I see full moon I myself have not found any evidence about the full moon but about the rain storms I actually have. Good luck to all of you

Walking is known to help the muscles used in preparing for labour but baby will come when they are ready don,t force it. I know the wait is frustrating but it's worth it.it takes 9 months for baby to develop and be strong and healthy to survive. Enjoy the the peace and attention while you can.

Honey, Just let nature take its course. The last thing you want is for your little one to come before he/she is ready to. Both of my sons were premature and my last one had a real hard time. He was in the NICU for 15 days and I couldn't hold him for the first 9 days of his life. Trust me I know the feeling of wanting your baby to come but it is so much better to wait and have them healthy then going through the pain of seeing them helpless.

Yes...both can induce labor! My husband and I did the "deed" and walked the flea market and my contractions started the next day. Also try walking when your contractions start..I walked three miles and an hour after I got home I went to the hospital and the rest is on from there! Hope this helps!

Honestly, I tried everything that I felt was safe (walking/stairs, spicy food, nipple stimulation, sex) and none if it worked. The baby came on his own time. However, I did end up going into the labor the day after I completely gave up on worrying about inducing the labor. It's possible that the stress of wanting to get the babe out delayed the process, but who knows. But now I miss being pregnant so just enjoy having the baby all to yourself in your safe and warm womb because once the baby is out, it's a lifetime of worry. Good luck and congrats!

give yourself an orgasm, lol no partner needed. of course you won't get any prostoglandin (or whatever it is that's in semen :P ) but an orgasm causes contractions. worked for me! my water broke just one hour after i had...finished... lol.

I know I didn't believe what my grandma said the old poeple used but trust me IT WORKS! I had bothe my kiddio with this method. Castor Oil 1 tsp in somthing sweet to drink the oil taste Horrible, but I did it with my daughter and 4 hours later my water broke! My son I was in laber for 3 DAYS but would still on 2 1/2-3 cm so they gave me a shot to STOP my contractions and sent me home. I went home I got the same bottle I used for my daughter I (never threw it out) repeated I used snapple as my drink of choice a couple of hours later I was 9 cm and almost fully a faced. I tell all moms I believe it works it worked twice for me!

Hi! I have three children and each time was different, EXCEPT that I seem to hold them in longer than I should, lol. My advice? Organic raspberry tea found at natural food stores. Put a lil honey in it and drink 2 cups a day. I had my first cup (after finding out I wasn't dialated at all) before bed, woke up and had one, and one more again that night. Then I woke up at 7a.m. in labor and gave birth at 10:23 a.m. I loooooove it and would use it again. Check with your doc first and be sure you're full term. Good luck!!!

trying to induce labor yourself is so very dangerous. Continuing with your normal routine is just what you should do. Drink plenty of water, with out anything in it, and get losts of rest, you're going to need it. Babies are born when they are ready to be born. Trust in nature to take it's course, and your doctors to make the call when to induce. I know that it becomes very frustrating and you're very anxious at the end of your pregnacy especially when you are over due, but trust me when I tell you this, I have had 4 children all over due and 3 inductions. Now I'm a grandma of 6. Good luck

Try accupressure: massaging on certain areas of your body can induce labor. Like pressing and massaging your hand between your thumb and forefinger. I know it might sound crazy but as soon as I tried it, I gave birth 2 days later. I looked it up on the internet and who would have thought it actually worked. It couldnt hurt to try. Good luck.

Hi, i know of castor oil which i wanted to try myself as i was 11 days over due but after reading up on it i chose not to do it as there are about 50/50 good and bad experiences. Apparently pineapple has the same thing in it as semen does to soften up the cervix but how much u have to eat im not sure. There is also raspberry tea or pills that you can take and alot more. I ended up just having to wait to get induced. Hope this helps.
