I know this is gross.... How long is normal to bleed after a C-section?

I just had one with my daughter (born 12/31/09) and it lasted about 3 weeks off and on, very light. I think it depends on the person

It is normal to bleed for multiple weeks after a c section. Just in many cases the flow is less, but it depends on the woman, and how much the doctor was able to suction out at the time of delivery. Just hang in there!

Every woman is diffrent and every birth is diffrent. I had two emerg c- sections. My first after a really long labor. I didnt bleed a lot it was pretty light and went for bout 4 to six weeks on and off.
My second emerg section i flooded every where the 1st two days then it was just like a heavy period for six weeks. All the best.

hey i had a c-section on the 6th of dec and ive only just stopped bleeding...u will find it will come on in fits and starts and its brown towards the end hope thats helped x

I have had 2 c-sections and i bleed about 3 weeks. I was told it is alot less bleeding with a c-section than a natural birth.

My first was only 2 weeks, but the other two were about the same as after vaginal deliveries.

i bled all the way through the 6 weeks after my c-section pretty heavy and only got a 3 day break and got my period for the first time since getting pregnant and that lasted for almost 2 weeks...everyone just bleeds a little different if your worried though call your doctor ...its always better to be safe then sorry!

Heavy for about 3 weeks and then lighter for another two weeks after that. It's normal to bleed all the way up until your 6 week check up. You should also get up and walk around to avoid having it come out in big clots. It was really gross and scary when I would sit for too long during the day and I'd get a big clot. I was just so tired that I didn't want to do much but then my husband and I would try to get out and just walk slowly down the street to the corner and back. It did a lot for my recovery and my mood!

After my c-section, I bled for 6 weeks. Thankfully it wasn't horribly heavy.

I'm pretty sure I was still bleeding at the 6 week follow up appointment after my c-section. Not bad bleeding but still annoying...

After my 1st child they gave me the depro shot and I bled for a year. With my 2nd I would not have that shot and it was 8 weeks of bleeding.

It is not unusual to bleed for 4-6 weeks. Your flow should gradually decrease and become lighter in color until it is almost clear. It should NOT have a foul odor or be passing clots, if so see your doctor.

i dont know about a c-section but after my vaginal deliveries i bled for 6-8 weeks im sure its the same for a c-section..

off and on for 6 weeks.. its about the same as a vaginal birth.. i got lucky with my c-section... i asked the doctor if it was normal to have such light bleeding and she said no.. i was just lucky lol.. with my vaginal birth i bled wayyyy worse and longer

How long where u bleeding? I was for about 3 weeks and then I stopped. Some people Bleed for months and its completely normal... Just depends on the person
