Bio oil is fantastic. It helps reduce streatch marks when you've already got them too!!! It's a bit pricey but well worth the money :) good luck

ps: sleep, sleep and sleep some more before baby comes!!!!!!!

Stretch Marks are not preventable some people get them some people don't I never got them with my first child but did with my second but I was carrying my first around I think the pressure of his weight on the belly is what did most of the damage. Palmers Cocoa Butter not sure if works as I used it with both but it does make your skin feel good after it has been lightly massaged.

The key is to keep well moisturised! The palmers tummy butter is great and I have been using that on my tummy every night since early pregnancy. In the mornings I do a full body moisturising with palmers cocoa body cream straight after a shower as its best to seal in the moisture before your skin gets a chance to dry out. Prevention is the key, as once you get stretch marks they may fade but never go away completely. It is also a matter of luck, as some people no matter what they do will still get stretch marks. I just say the more you moisturise the better!

coconut oil is very good but I believe any kind of oil would help keep skin smooth.

Like baby oil is good.

I didn't worry too much about stretch marks and ended up getting terrible ones in my 9th month... don't worry, even if you get them, every time you see your little one you will SWEAR that they were worth it!

You can not drink enough water, stay hydrated.  Had a friend who carried twins full term and didn't get a streatch mark, she swore it was the hydration.

When you get out of the shower, don't dry your stomach & hips (or wherever).  Rub baby oil onto your wet skin & let it dry naturally.  It helped me.

It really depends on your skin type, but I used concentrated cocoa butter in a tube by palmers and also used curel pregnancy lotion. I gained 30lbs and was all belly. I got a few stretch marks but only around my belly button and no extra skin. So It might have been from the lotions. I used them twice a day. Don't use a loofah or anything exfoliating. Just used body wash and your hand or a very soft sponge or wash cloth to wash your tummy. Good Luck

The truth of the matter is that stretch marks are genetic, to some degree. If your mom, grandma, aunt, etc., had them, chances are you have a greater chance of getting them. That factored in with weight gain are the 2 biggest contributers. Like I said earlier, just don't gain too much weight too quickly. I was slow and steady my entire pregnancy. Then BAM! I got stretch marks. It really happened when i dropped. Oh well. They're not bad. To be honest, they look like the kind that will fade with time. They're already looking better 4 months later.

I wouldnt recommend bio oil !! I used it with my 1st (& only) child because someone told me about it and I used it 2-3 times daily since I was 10 weeks (I started to show Really EARLY) & I used it for a month after and I still have them!!! Maybe it works for some people but it definitely didnt work for me! Good Luck because sometimes its gonna happen either way!

[deleted account]

Don't get too big too quick! I didn't get them until the last 2 weeks of my pregnancy!! Imagine that. And I did all the OLD WIVES TALES.. cocoa butter, lotion, everything! Still got them.

Try palmer's cocoa butter for stretch marks, smells nice too. Also bio-oil, that will help, its really good and use it after you've had the baby as well to get rid of the purple and redness of the marks. Good luck x.

I've used palmer's for my 1st and 2nd pregnancy, it really works, i dont have any stretch marks at all.

Hi, I did everything to avoid them e.g creams, oils, drinking plenty, exercise for blood flow, not putting weight on too fast etc. but just in the last week or two they came! I got them on thighs and bum and a bit on tummy. And when the milk came in a few days after birth I got plenty on my breasts because they became so huge so fast! Sorry its not good news, but Ive heard that it depends on skin type that is inherited so if your Mum got them then you probably will. Baby is worth it though! :)

I don't know if anyone has mentioned these but rubbing vitamin E oil helps, yoga/pilates & swimming help because they work your abs and keep them fit. That will also be very beneficial when it's time for labor. I've heard Shea butter helps but not sure how effective it is.

I used a product called, "Mother's Friend". I rubbed it on after baths or whenever my stomach felt tight and it helped me. I am not sure if they still make it though for that was back in 1982. I hope you can find something that will help you too.

Ask your mom. If your mom had stretch marks, you will have them too. If not, you are good to go. :-) Cocoa butter will help make them less noticable.

the medical truth is that if you are going to get stretch marks you just are there is nothing you can do...moisture helps to make you skin stretch better but fait will do what it will do. sorry

Vitamin E oil, by mouth and externally. Vitamin E will add to the elsticity of your skin. Also, use some shea butter.

I used Palmer's cocoa butter oil w/ all 3 of pregnancies and no stretch marks and I amcurrently using it again w/ my 4th pregnancy and so far so good. I also recommended it to my sis-in-law and she is 36 wks pg and no stretch marks as well.

I used the Palmers Cocoa butter stretch mark lotion as well. It was amazing. I lathered in the morning when I got out of the shower and before I went to bed. Not a single stretch mark. Good luck.

hi alysha, congrats to you as you expect your first baby! if you have your mom and grandmothers to find out from, ask if they have any stretch marks. i am a firm believer that your skin elasticity is in your genes. i have 4 children. my first 2 were singletons and the following 2 were twins. my bellies were out to there but fortunately not a single stretch mark!(not even after my twins!) ironically (or not), neither my mom nor my 2 grandmothers ever had these tell-tale signs of pregnancy. it may be a gauge that can clue you in as your belly further expands. i did not use any lotions although if you feel comfortable doing this, it is a nice ritual. i wish you all the luck in the world as you embark on this tremendous and joyous event!

My Dr. told me that there is NO cream out there that will prevent you from getting stretch marks. "Lucky ME" I got them!!!! Having a 10 lb. baby I guess he needed more room to grow. :-) My baby is happy and healthy and that is all that matters!!! Good luck and CONGRATS on your new bundle of joy, cherish every minute!! I LOVE BEING A MOMMY!!

meditate don't know if it really worked or not but i would get it in my head that I am growing new car for baby new house new life and all the things i would need (mindful visualization u might call it) and breathe with my belly -didn't/don't have one stretch mark. did this faithfully from about your time until birth couple times throughout the day whenever i was focused on that stuff. would love to hear if i lucked out or if that works for other people.

good luck and all the best

tr

would love to hear if it works for you

Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize. Start now as much as you can to avoid them but once they do show up (if they do) the cocoa butter lotion other's are talking about works wonders for visability, don't think (other than drastic steps) that you can ever get rid of the feel of them. Congradulations.

My mother did not get any stretch marks, neither did my oldest sister. However, I used anything and everything I could to prevent them (putting it on at least 3-4 times a day!!) and still ended up with my belly FULL of stretch marks!! My second sister also. I don't believe you can really prevent them if you're prone to get them. But if you try to prevent them, then at least you know you did all you could!
