I'm having problem of my little one not sleeping at night.I have strict schedule of her feeding time 3 hr once.My little Melanie 2months old nap all day long and she's not tired toward the time i want to sleep. I did bathe her,massage her did everything i can, to make her sleep thru night. I bathe her 8pm afterward feed her around 8:30, the moment she drink milk she's become very tired and immediately fall asleep. The problem is she would wake up again around 9 or 10 and she's not tire anymore. So i played with her little, stall her with pacifier if i have to until her next feeding time 11:30. While feeding she fall asleep and when you try to wind her up she's fully awake . I'm so afraid to touch her even, since i don't want her to wake her up.What shall i do??? I need help...i'm falling sick cant' resist this sleepless & restless nights. HELPPPPPP!!!!

If she falls asleep after bath time, use that as your bedtime routine to prepare her for the night. During the daytime, wake her up and don't let her sleep so much. It sounds like she has her days and her nights mixed up!

It's fine for her to have long naps, but around dinner time, make sure she's awake for a couple hours so when bedtime comes around, she's truly worn out. Even if she's trying to fall asleep, do stuff with her, feed her bathe her and she'll be extra tired. Don't wake her up at night to feed. Let her wake you! She may stay to the schedule for now, but as you keep her awake in the evening, she'll be super tired and start to sleep more between feedings.

Yeah, I don't think when you bathe her really matters. Babies don't necessarily need to have a bath everyday either. It can dry their skin out and that is exactly the situation I had with my boys. The doctor recommended only giving them a bath once a week unless they needed more. I decided on twice a week.

As for spitting up, it is definitely normal. Sometimes it might look like she is spitting up too much, but unless it looks like she spit up her entire feeding, it probably isn't too much.

It is okay to not to feed her during the night, if she doesn't wake or you don't think she needs it. There may be times she wakes up just because but it doesn't necessarily mean she is hungry. Don't wake her.

Thiri, you could try feeding her more often in the day - instead of going three hours between feeds, feed her at 8.30am then wake her up at 11am, 1.30pm, 4pm, 6.30pm, 9pm and 11.30pm - then let her sleep as long as she wants, give her an early morning feed when she wakes up, put her straight back to bed and then start again at 8.30am. That way she gets the idea that she should be awake during the day and sleeping at night. I did that with all three of mine and it seemed to work.

My babies never cared what time I bathed them - no matter how relaxed they were in the tub they would wake up and want to play as soon as I started dressing them! I actually bathed my babies in the afternoon a lot because it was winter when they were small and it was too cold to do it in the evenings.

Elizabeth is right about the burping, my youngest would spit up if she didn't have a burp between boobs and after wards. 20 mins per side is fine, if she seems settled and happy and is having enough wet nappies every day. Some babies just eat too much and spit up the extra that will not fit in their tummies!

I don't think it is a good idea to pump before feeding, but if you want to increase your milk supply you can pump after your daughter feeds - that will give you an idea if she is emptying your breasts as well.

It sound like you are doing fine and that your daughter is happy and healthy :o)

It can get overwhelming keeping an eye on the clock so that you know when to feed your precious Melanie. In addition, a babies brain is set up to tell her when she needs more nutrients and/or liquid. I highly recommend that you consider feeding her on demand rather than on schedule. I think it would be less stressful for the both of you. Did anyone explain to you the signs of hunger in a baby? Rooting (which is basically open mouth searching for a nipple) or tongue thrusting are the most common.

Each baby is different in the amount they need and each baby varies from day to day. What you have to consider is, does she seem content after eating and is she getting at least 4 to 6 wet diapers a day (6 to 8 wet diapers if you're using cloth).

How often do you burp her? My little guy will spit up if I don't get several really big belches from him (then I tell him "say excuse me".) I need to burp him about every 5 minutes and it takes a bit to get him to burp.

Have to go feed my little one, but I'll post this and hopefully come back later.

The problem is that she got use to the feeding times that was practice from hospital.Dear Gwen, how shall i feed her early in the evening???Well my feeding time for melanie is 8:30 am,11:30 am,2:30pm,5:30pm,8:30pm,11:30 pm, 2:30am &5:30am. Starting from yesteraday i tried to add 30min more to the schedule, moreover i bathe her bit earlier than before, use to bathe her 8 pm but i changed 6:30pm. Should i add more or less to my feeding time and bathe time???I was afraid if i bathe her too early, she would fall asleep right away and have problem sleeping in the night. Is that concept correct or not?How can rearrange feeding time from hospital?Is drinking 100ml pumped milk too much for 2 month old baby??How long shall i feed her??Normally i feed her 20min per breast but right after that she spit up.I know baby spit up is normal but will she have any milk left in her stomach since she spit up?I fed her without pumping my milk. Is that the reason why she's spit up?I don't want to give her too much or too less. How do i know if i'm giving enough?Do i need to pump milk before feeding so that baby will not spit up?I have so many question ...you all have to help me.

She is too little to have a schedule really. Napping most of the day away won't help with sleeping at night. Yes babies sleep a lot in general, but if she sleeps too much during the day, that will definitely affect her sleep at night.

At 2 months old, you should probably spend less time trying to impose your schedule and follow her cues. Try feeding her earlier in the evening and again at 9 or 10 when she wakes up. After that, maybe she won't need the 11:30 feeding. Also, infants go through lots of phases and growth spurts where their eating and sleeping patterns will change dramatically. Try to relax and follow your baby's lead. They are all different and no one approach works for every child.

Don't be so strict on her feeding times. Let her eat when she wants to eat. Most babies will make their own schedule if you let them. It may take a while but she and you will adjust. Don't wake her up when she is sleeping to feed her. This is the way I raised all 4 of my babies and their schedules were all different but they were happy and slept through the night at around 3-4 months old. Hope that helps.
