I'm now 1 week past my due date. I've tried everything I can think of to get labor started, but nothing is working! Any suggestions or ideas?

You will have your baby in about a week or before, some babies come 2 weeks early and some 2 weeks later. Maybe your due date is off a little that could be possible. Good Luck!!!!

The baby will come when it is ready, this is the first lesson in being a parent, you can't control everything. I have four kids and looking back my life changed dramatically, this was one of the first lessons, not having a spotless house was the next... Good luck and congratulations!

I was drinking raspberry leaf tea and taking evening prim rose oil at the end of pregnancy with my third son because I have a history of over due babies, with two weeks to go I was dialated to 3 and thought everything would be smooth and on time, but nothing changed the following week. My husband was complaining about this to his brother (who is an ER doctor) because we had also been trying EVERYTHING else and he told me to stop drinking the tea because being overly hydrated would keep me from going into labor. I told my husband I had just heard him say, "drink nothing but diet soda", I stopped taking in as much "real" fluid as I could and went into labor a day and a half later. Sounds unhealthy, I know, but it was just the one day : ) Hope you get releif and a baby soon!

i went 10 days over on my second daughter and had to be induced but the doctor gave me a sweep 8 days before hand which i would not advice to anyone - its very uncomfortable and it opens your baby to infection my daughter had to spend 10 days in SCBU with a blood infection most likely picked up because of it....... An hour after being induced i went for a bath and then went into labour!!!!!! but the best thing you can do is try and relax and try not to stress over it all (i know easier said than done) best of luck and hope it all happens soon

Just relax. There are so many factors that go into making a body ready for labor. I was almost a month overdue with my first, and I delivered him vaginally. Of course, that was 20 years ago. Nowadays a doctor probably won't let you go that long. Eat, even if you don't want to. Walking keeps you in shape for labor and gravity might help too. You'll *know* when it's time because your baby will drop and it'll feel like there's a bowling ball stuffed into your cervix. Makes it hard to walk all of a sudden, but doesn't hurt. Are you effaced at all? That's what you're really going for, a nice soft cervix that will thin out fast when it's time. Good fortune to you!

I went two weeks past my due date and i had contractions for 6days and ended up having an emergency ceaserarian. They had to break my waters for me. I don't really have any advise on how to get labour stared but i hope this doesn't happen to you. I hope u have a nice easy labour. ( well as good as it can be)

I was 3wks overdue with my 1st baby. She was due on the 4th of oct, and finally arrived by c-section, on the 25th. My doctor said my cervix was the same as at 36 weeks and nothing would help. Eventually I had not choice, but to get a c-section, I was so negative and sad and angry, 'cause I wanted to deliver naturally, and had no plan B. I ended up with NO milk, due to my stress. I also tried everything, castor oil, HOT bath, spicy food, walking, sex...the whole toot!! On the video of her birth you can clearly see the cord wrapped around her whole body and neck several time, so not going into labour actually saved my babies life! Just be patient, there is always a reason for everything!!

Oh honey do I know how you feel.LOL I was due with my 1st on 9/17/87 and had him 10/10/87. I ended up having to be induced. With my 2nd & 3rd things went much easier. My doctor told me sex would help to induce my labor naturally. Didn't believe him the 1st time. With the other two I listened and had them either early or close to on time. I also ate spicy foods the day I went into labor.

I'm now 1 week past my due date. I've tried everything I can think of to get labor started, but nothing is working! Any suggestions or ideas?

All that I can say is that I feel your pain.  My due date was 9-2-09 and my little girl just doesn't seem to want to come.  Two weeks ago I was dilated to a 1 and then last Friday I was dilated to a 2 and since Tuesday I've been feeling really weird.  I wish that she'd just make up her mind and come already!

Truthfully the world (or at least the people in my world) are waiting for her grand arrival!!!

I wish you the best of luck with your new little addition, whenever the arrival is...keep everyone posted!

Best Wishes...

I was a week late with my son. I was actually scheduled to be induced but he decided to start the process on his own just a few hours before my scheduled induction. I tried everything too, walking, sex, spicy foods, the works and nothing really did anything. You just have to be patient and try not to fret. Due dates aren't exact sciences anyway so you might actually be right on time and not know it. :) The doctor won't let you go any longer than two weeks after your projected due date so the only advice I can give is be patient.

Sex is supposed to work but all u really can do is wait. If your doc finally decides its time, its time. I know when I had my first my dr was going to induce me on a tuesday but my son said nope, and popped out the previous thurs/fri(cant remember, lol.)
