I went to the dr on friday (pregnant with my 4th child) was due in 5 days. He told me that i was not dialated or thinned out at all. He said "It could be weeks." After I cried, I went, amde and appointment had a massage! She did a pressure point massage. This happened at 3pm. I went home and continued the massages like she showed me. Nothing happened until midnight...3 contractions LOL. I went to bed. At 3:48am my water broke. Emma was born at 9:06am. Awesome labor... Try it.

When I was pregnant with both my girls, I walked miles the day before both were born. Not sure if that helped me along or not.

and if all else fails a hearty dose of pitocin from your obstetrician along with rupturing your membranes (under strict medical supervision) ought to do the job sufficiently ;)

Doing the deed, chili, and sitting on the birthing ball. My daughter was just about 4 days early, although they come whenever they want! I'm sure it was just a coincidence. I've read that the baby releases a hormone that starts labour. So sit tight! In just a few day/hours you will meet your new baby! Relax while you can:)

Hey! Labour will happen! I went 4 weeks over with each of my 5 children :) trying to induce labour can be dangerous. You will have this child for a very long time what is a few more days in the womb! Dates are unpredictable and being off a week or two is not unheard of! Be patient you will hold your child in your arms soon! Prayers and Love to you!

I did various things to induce mine (2 days early). We had sex with castor oil and rose hip extract (midwife prescribed), ate eggplant parmasean and had acupuncture done. I also had a cervical catheter put in, and that made the biggest difference (midwife suggestion)! My blood pressure was rising so we had to try - otherwise my birth would have had to be in the hospital instead of the birth center.

Hottest dish you can handle, followed by a long walk. This worked for both my children, they were both late. ordered a madras with both and the were born the following days.
But don't worry they come along when they are ready ;-)

It depends on the woman. I was told to try sex, did that. Then I tried long walks 2 times a day, hot baths, teas, Chinese, Mexican food, I even did the pedicure thing....which might have worked had the lady used a little force, but even when I tried the pressure points myself, nothing. I was 9 days over due with our baby, and nothing worked. Im not really sure what the rush was anyways because he ended up being a facial breech and even inducing didn't do the trick. After more than 24 hours of inducing/labor, in which they broke my water for me too...I ended up getting an epidural and pushed for 3 hours with no luck and then it was c-section for me. Different things work for different women. I didn't even feel my contractions til it was push time and then I had the epidural anyhow. My best advice is try whatever makes you comfortable and trust your doctors. The only thing that got me through my labor was my support staff(mum, hubby, doctors, nurses ect) I dont do hospitals and usually dont do pain. I wouldn't recommend castor oil ;)

Hi.. Look to be really honest with you! I have had 5 children and there really is absolultley nothing you can do.. next to placing a drip in you arm and administering your own stash of pitocin! There is nothing.. I have tried everything with all my children. i know sex is the biggest suggestion, because the sperm is suppose to act like a natural pitocin and bring on labour! But alot of the time it is purely coincidental! Sorry.. to be the bearer of bad news but trust me when i say i have tried everything. If sex really does work then how is it that majority of women have sex the whole time through there pregnacy and dont go into labour, and deliver pre term babies. Some do but i think that is an incompetant cervix/medical reasons. ITs horrible to be overdue i know but its certainly worth a try even if it something to do to past the time til bub arrives! Hubby will be happy :)

This may6 sound silly but I had to go for a walk, come back and have sex and had my husband play with my nipples. That worked for me, I guess the nipple holds the same drug that they use to induce labor. So if you can get that to release then you will go into labor.

My mum is great with starting off labour. She has started 8 of my friends off. Get someone to put both of their hands each side of your bump and rock the baby from side to side for a few minutes. Have a few minutes break then repeat it again. Do this a few times and i gaurentee, this will work. Within hours, you will go into natural labour. Good luck. Hope this helps xxx

I was overdue with my next to the last child with her head already in a +1 position and no sign of labor on the distance. I had heard an old wives tale about drinking 1/4 cup of castor oil. Did it - worked like a charm, I was in labor 5 hours later, however it also did what castor oil is meant to do.

Spicy stuff and castor oil (but ask dr. first), I had my membranes stiped and of course have sex. But the key is the sperm! It releases something that helps! Good Luck!

This induced my labor TWICE...with both of my kiddos...
It will sound strange, but I SWEAR to you that it really works! With my first daughter, I stayed up past my normal bedtime and just relaxed on the couch. I had been told by a friend that you can induce contractions by "playing with" or "twisting" your nipples. Yep, I just said it out loud. How embarrassing! But I truly believe in it!! Within 30 minutes of doing this for about 15 minutes, I went to the bathroom and my water broke as I stood up from the toilet.
With the next daughter, I did the same thing. This time, I did it 1 week ahead of my due date, thinking that perhaps the first time might have been a fluke. Nope!! Not a fluke. Within minutes, I was contracting. So then I thought to myself that maybe I SHOULDN'T do it so soon...so I stopped and decided to head of to bad. I had only been doing it for a few minutes, but I guess it was too late...I had already started contracting, which just grew and grew with intensity through the night. We headed to the hospital at about 8:30 the next morning. By 1:30, I had a new little baby girl!
So, call it what you will, but I am a huge believe in the "Nipple Twister Method"! Ha ha!! Let me know if it works...or helps...GOOD LUCK!!

i've read in studies that sex has nothing to do with going into labor, neither does pineapple, going over bumps or etc. what does help is walking. if nurses thin your membrane or castor oil. i'm 8 months with my second child. the only thing that put me into labour with my first and i was a week over due also was an ice storm when the pressure changes. pray for a storm or drink castor oil. i havent done the oil yet because i just found out about that a few months ago. i heard it tastes like root beer!

When my son was a week past the latest due date they gave me in July, I tried everything from jumping jacks to lawn mowing, but he eventually had to be induced. My daughter was born one week early, right before our state assessments (I'm a teacher). I honestly think that the stress from teaching caused the earlier labor, since my son was a summer baby and she was in the fall. Try the suggestions that people give you as long as they're not too wacky, but just try to have patience and let your doctor handle it! It's not something a pregnant woman wants to hear, but it's the truth!

It takes the same thing to get them out as it does getting them in.. Sperm has oxytocin in it which thins out the cervix.. It's natures way with out having pitocin. We have six kiddos, I went over with the first one after that... No problem! Try it, it really works.

If you are planned to have a sweep by your midwife grin and bear the uncomfort as I believe thats what stopped me from being induced. Good luck

my name is lisa. you should also try getting on your hands and knees bbecause the gravity pulls the baby down.but if you want to go natural than accupunture is your best bet. we believe petosin has been linked to autism and other problems. the accupuncture goes in the hands ,ankles and shoulders.
