So my daughter is turning 1 in July. She is a very special addition to our family. and took a lot of intervention to get her here safely, and over a million dollars... so I wanted to do somehting special, but unique.

A Color Party

Bright colors and simplicity is in order here. Decorate your home with solid brightly colored balloons, streamers, flowers etc. Ask your guests to dress in solid colors; all red, all yellow, orange etc.- Color rainbows- Have a rainbow cake - Children can decorate your walkway using sidewalk chalk. Give a coloring book and crayons as a party gift. Serve cupcakes made in colored ice cream cones.

OR

You could do a garden friends party. Lady bugs, caterpillars, butterflies, frogs, birds, and lots of flowers.

What about a movie theme? She can be the "star" and relish in all the attention. She can get the leading lady award and you as the parents can be best supporting actors. Big sunglasses, tickets, and candy for all! :)

Congratulations for having your perseverance rewarded!!

Of course, I don't know her interests, but there are probably some great clues in things she loves...cool puzzle pieces if she's into puzzles (I can envision the cake!), a jungle theme if her lovey is a monkey--or garden theme if it's a bunny--with everyone bringing their favorite stuffed animal... Although usually 1-yr-old parties are more for the parents than the kids... :)
