When I go for my 6 week appointment I am thinking of having this placed. I really have a bad habit of forgeting to take birth control. Who has it and what do u think of it.

I have two different opinions about it. I had my first one in 7 years ago. I had cramps for 2 days after, but I took tylenol and it was not that bad. I bled for 3 months straight after that it stopped and just spotting for the next 5 years. my doctor at that time told me it only lasted for 5 years, so I had it changed two years ago, which did not seem as bad as the first time. But 2 months later I found I was pregnant. So after this last baby my husband just got fixed. We have 6 kids all together so that was the best choice for us, as we do not want to drive a bus!!! lol

I have it and love it! I have had it for over a year and I no longer get my period, just some light spotting. It has however made the post baby weight loss very slow, but I would take that any day over having to remember the pill. It is painful going in, a lot of cramping! That went away in a few hours. Also some spotting for 2 days after placement.

I had the Mirena placed in me, my body tried refusing it for the first few weeks, I almost had to go to the hospital it uhurt so much. When finally my body adjusted to this new component, it was fine.
About a year down the line, the mirena shifted inside me and pinched my cervix I had to go in and get it removed, they offered to put a replacement in but I gave up a nd have decided to try the diaphram.

I had the Mirena in at my six week appointment. Then 5 months later I was pregnant w/ my daughter. :) I had no side effects beside that!

I have it. I had a lot of spotting for several months, but that is now gone and my periods are very light. I love not having to worry about birth control or condoms.

I had it, it was a little painful going in but nothing a little aspirin won't help. I did have spotting for a couple of weeks but once I got through the initial phases I loved it. You actually end up with a lot lighter periods or may they may go away altogether. I plan on having it put back in at my 6 week checkup!
