Anyone have any ideas on things I could eat that will satisfy my sweet tooth without putting on tons more weight?? My DH LOVES buying junk food and we gotta have like 85% junk food in our house so since i'm a SAHM the food stares at me all day long!! I want desperately to start shedding some of this baby weight!! I wanna be able to have some sweets, but without all the guilt! Is that possible??

My advice is if you like chocolate buy fun size and keep them in the crisper where you can't see them and have ONE a day. Lock the rest away if your husband still wants to buy it and get him to take the key to work. Same with biscuits and cake only ONE small piece after dinner like as a reward. Plus apples are nice and sweet so are bananas, nectarines, grapes it doesn't hurt to have 2 serves of fruit a day. Any time I used to have a craving I'd just have a cup of rosehip tea or glass of water. I agree with Leticia too you have to train yourself out of the habit of eating it.

try putting all the junk into a cupboard where you can't see it, maybe up high where it will be more work to reach it, or downstairs where it requires more work to get to it. I like junk food too but i'm inherently lazy so those methods work well for me

My friend had a very good results with weight loss and she used a body cleansing system. She lost about 30lbs and some of her bad food cravings are gone. I am using this nutritional system for other reasons, but I can point you in the right direction.

You have to STOP the sugar cycle,that means re-training your tastebuds by not eating any "junk" for 2 weeks (ie.eat your fruit and vege;) your just feeding the cravings every time u hit the sweet stuff and they can only satisy u for bout an hour due to the sudden spike in your blood sugar-then the cycle begins again.
Go with low G.I (glycemic index) whole foods-eg.switch white foods to wholegrains etc but eat these every 3 hours or so to keep your blood sugar nice and even and keep away cravings. aim to eat about 6 smallish meals a day instead of 3 big ones and the 'junk'.
the curves idea suggested is great-exercise even if only for a few hours a week will speed up your metabolism and get some muscles happening-which like to chew body fat up:)
DEFINATELY have your "treats" now and then but remember the energy content (energy in should = energy out) a can of coke is about 6tsp of sugar so technically you'd have to run around a football oval a few times which we obviously dont have time for lol (hence it just gets stored away as fat) ultimately it comes down to u at the end of the day-if your ready and willing for change u will do just that:) hope i helped?? (ill be a qualified nutritionist soon so know this problem like the back of my hand;)

p.s there is a safe herb tincture u can buy from a health food shop (google it) etc called Gymnema-it changes the taste buds perception of sweetness so when u have a sweet it actually tastes bitter and not that great (only after u take the tincture though-not permanently!)

Whenever i get a craving for some sweets I try drinking a glass of water. In most cases the desire vanishes. Also, I've learned your body craves foods that contain vitamins and minerals your body needs, so by taking a multi vitamin it may help with those cravings and also help you stay healthy.
I've taken to making koolade with a third of the sugar that it calls for as a pop supplement since its no caffeine and less sugar by far since you control it.

Hubby and I sat down one day and said "enough is enough". We threw out all the junk food. We put healthy snacks in the fridge. It was kinda hard at first but when we recognized "what" it was that we actually craved we did fine. When we HAVE TO HAVE something we go and buy only what we need to satify the craving.

I found I ate because I am bored. So now we keep busy. I eat when the boys eat, and only nibble, it's not a race. Sometimes one is just thursty, not hungry. And You can try just brushing your teeth when you are hungry for silly things.



If your darling Hubby will not "Change his Ways" then make him store the Junk food in the garage - away from you. Out of sight out of mind.



Just try it. I lost all the baby weight plus 10 pounds just by not eating because I'm bored.

Try having some sweet fruit in the house like pears or fuji apples which are really high in natural sugar you might find this helps with the cravings. Helps me cause Im the same as you, love the bad stuff!

Get some 'healthy' sweet food - granola bars with chocolate in them - they're good for you (depending on which ones you get - my favorite are the Fiber One peanut chocolate bars), fruit - you can sprinkle on some sugar or cinnamon, or get small, portionable junk - think the big bag of M&Ms. put some on a napkin, put the bag away, walk away and sit somewhere other than the kitchen. don't go back for more. just some ideas - my hubby is the same way - omg, all the easter candy that's sitting around right now!!! :P hope this helps! good luck!

p.s. get enrolled at Curves - great fitness program, and weight loss program too. Fitness program is only 30 min./day, 3 days a week. Plus, it gets you out of the house. Cost is approx. $30/month, so about $1 a day, and it's only for women, so you don't have guys staring at your post-baby body! been there, done that. yuck. www.curves.com

Try changing just a few things, I love popsicles, so my first step was to switch to sugar free popsicles. Then I started trying to drink less pop. Next I stopped loading my purse with candy bars. It has taken me 3 years but by doing it slowly I am now finally to the point where I don't feel like I'm depriving myself of anything and am eating healthy. My husband still eats horribly but its easier for me to resist. The biggest thing is 'Don't Deprive Yourself! You deserve to eat something yummy once in a while, just try to make better choices or not eat as much of the junk." I was 397 pounds 3 years ago. I am now down to about 225. Still not where I need to be, but getting there slowly and steadily.

Weight watches... that way you can still have some "junk" food!!! I just started and lost 7 pounds in my 1st week.. but my friend did it right after her baby was born and shes don 75 pounds in one year!!! GOOD LUCK
