Hi there. My name is Jennifer. I have been down this road myself, the only difference is that my tubes were cut and clips were put on. After my third daughter, I thought I was done (this was in 2001), we had a couple of kids real close together and thought it was best. A couple of years after that I started to have the feelings you were having. I realized I really wasn't done and I really couldn't talk to anyone about it except my husband. My husband felt the same, but since insurance didn't pay for it because it was elective we were going to have to figure out how to come up with the money. In the middle of all of this, I lost one ovary and tube due to massive scarring from my ligation. In 2007, we were getting desperate and I being in my thirties was getting to the point where it was going to be much harder and riskier. My husband got a line of credit on our house and gave it to me as an anniversary gift. So in 2007, my doctor of many years reversed my one tube and three months later I was pregnant. The main thing is how much tube you have left to work with. I am not sure where you live, but my doctor, Stephen McCarus is a reknowned minimally invasive surgeon at Florida Hospital Celebration. He has certain techniques that reduce the risk of scar tissue build up. I had a couple of surgeries after he removed my ovary and scarring and I never had anymore. I am getting ready to see him again because I believe I do now as a result of my emergency C-section last year. People from all over come to him to learn his techniques and he is the department head. Now with the price he sets a fee for himself and then when you register at the hospital and pay they actually give you a %50 discount on their services and that stays in affect as long as anything extra (pain meds, etc) is paid when it is billed. I checked into some of the reversal clinics in Florida and North Carolina and only was concerned because of my history of scarring. That is why I stayed with Dr. McCarus and obviously he did a great job because I have my fourth child and first son laughing right now. You would have to be evaluated to see how much good tube you have. The length is extremely important for success. Obviously I can't say that it would definitely happen for you, but it is possible and if you are serious you should definitely look into it. Just make sure you have a really good doctor. I actually had doctors tell me that they wouldn't do it for me because I had only one tube and my history of scarring. They told me that I would have a better chance at In Vitro. Dr. McCarus was not one of them and he was very positive about it. Obviously it worked because it only took me three months from my surgery to get pregnant. At the time of my surgery, it had been 6 years since my tubal ligation. Don't give up. If you have any other questions or need any other information I might be able to help you with e-mail me at WhiDove2@aol.com. I would be happy to chat with you about. Best of luck and I will pray for something positive to come your way.
