My daughter has been having this cough every time she gets a cold the Dr.says it's just apart of having a cold and says just use over the counter cough medicine, like pediacare which really doesn't do much.Can anyone help me please?

I agree that it could be cough variant asthma if it happens every time she gets a cold. You are right, OTC cough medicines don't work, especially in children. Research has shown that a spoonful of honey actually works better for a dry cough as long as the child is over one year of age. (Never give honey to children under one year). Does she cough at other times, like when she runs around a lot, laughs or cries a lot or do you hear her coughing during the night when she doesn't have a cold? If she does I would have her evaluated for asthma.

If she gets it EVERY time she gets a cold it could be asthma.
