like someone said before if they are drinkin a whole 8 oz bottle and still hungry start out with a little bit of rice cereal mixed with formula so its fairly thin almost runny and see if they have trouble swallowing it yet if not they are ready. My pediatrician said whenever and all 3 of my kids were different, my middle one was 2 months and eating all solid table food by 8 months with a full set of teeth my other 2 weren't quite as fast though. Good luck

My pediatrician told us 4 months unless she wasn't sleeping well and then to start it early. Talk to your doctor each clinic has different opinions and reasoning's for when to start solids.

Oh and as well I agree with Katy. When my daughter was finishing her bottles and still not going any longer I started adding rice cereal. She only ever went up to 6oz though, never 8oz untill she was about 9 months.

It depends on your child. Lots of doctors say nothing more then milk untill 6 months. However, some do say 4 months. Some kids are fine starting even earlier then that. Kids don't always fit into a guidline so do what you think is good for your child.

My daughter is 3 months now but at 2 months old she was eating every hour 2-4 ounces and it was making me crazy, so I started to add a tablespoon to every feeding and she started sleeping a lil more and feeding less! Now I just make 4 ounce bottles, eyeball a sprinkle of rice cereal and she eats it happily and on a better scedule! Our doctors here are actually encouraging starting rice cereal at 3 months, but I think it is all personal preff!

Quoting Katy:
i always kinda went by how much they were eating as far as bottles.....like when you notice you give a full 8 oz bottle and its not enough introduce cereal. I have 4 kids and all 4 were different ages one of which started on cereal at 2months so i hope this helps
I agree with Katy, you will just know. My daughter started wanting 6 ounces every 2 hours when she was awake. This started at about 4 months so i started on cereal about 3 weeks later. She also started smacking her lips when she saw us eating. And showing interest in what everyone around her was eating. Good Luck. Also ask your pediatrician. They will ask a few questions to help your determine if your baby is ready. I have learned in my short time as a mother so far to always trust your motherly instinct!

I gave rice cereal on my son's four month birthday. You don't have to for any reason. I know they say that is when you can start, so I did. Mostly because they are older and more alert and it is to give them a new experience. It is a let them move forward instead of holding them back approach I guess.

I started my son at 4 months, and my neice started at 5 mo. Although pediatricians usually say theres no need for any solids until 6 mo.
