I was 6 days overdue and my blood pressure was up at my last doctors appointment so the doctor swept my membranes and then they told me to go home they would induce me the next morning....i went in to natural labor that night at around 11 my contractions started coming 6min apart and stayed that way...i labored at home all night and went to the hospital at 7:30 the next morning....i think i got the epidural around noon and took about an hour to dialate the rest of the way....i pushed for two hours but i didnt feel that long and was good cuz i didnt tear and had no stiches....and my epidural was perfect i couldnt feel anything but pressure...was even able to be on my knees well pushing...overall it was a great labor way easier then i expected

I'm getting goosebumps reading these stories..MOTHERS ARE ALL TRUELY AMAZING!!

Daddies don't know the half of what labour is like! Moms everywhere should be awarded.

I am humbled by your stories and after going through my own, can honestly say NO love is greater than a mothers.

MOTHERS ARE SUPER HUMAN!

with my oldest I had some minor issues with weight gain and sciatica. On my due date my doctor told me if I made it to my next appointment in 6 days we would talk about induction. That morning I rolled over at 5am and my water broke. I was achy, so I could not go back to sleep. I had 3 contractions between 5:30am and 7am when we left the house. Over the next 30-45 minutes my contractions went from 8minutes apart down to about 2 minutes apart. When I got to the hospital around 7:45am I was dialated to 5cm. I declined an epidural, but was given IVpain meds. I waited until the pain made me want to throw up before I got the first dose. The nurse said the first dose works the best, so to wait if I could. I laid in bed and watched TV and dozed some until around 11. I realized that with each contraction I was involuntarily pushing, so I had my husband so get the nurse. I was found to be ready to push, and did. Not sure how long I pushed, but I know they ended up using the vacuum on him. He did not cry until after they got him totally out and suctioned twice. He was born at 11:56am...just 6.5 hours after my water broke. If I was in labor before it broke I did not know it.

With my daughter I had to have a c-section at 37 weeks. I went for my regular appointment and the doctor did an exam and said she thought she felt butt instead of head. She confirmed breech position by US. I was scheduled in the next day. I was scheduled for 10 am, but got delayed by a natural delivery. My daughter was born at 1:56 pm.

With my 3rd child They suggested another c-section, but I really really wanted a VBAC. My doctor reluctantly agreed. Somehow she managed to schedule her vacation the week I was due. My due date came and went. I tried all kinds of stuff...daily walks at walmart, drinking castor oil and OJ, and even sex. The day after my due date I went out to eat with friends at a mexican restaurant and ate TONS of guacamole and chorizo sausage with my meal. I came home and insisted my husband have sex with me. 2 hours later I rolled over and my water broke (about midnight). The baby's head was a lot higher than my oldest child's had been, so every step was another gush of water. I sat up watching TV until my contractions started. I timed them for an hour, and they were irregular, but 4-7 minutes apart. I woke my husband and we decided to go to the hospital in case I had a quick labor. He dropped me at the hospital and took the kids to my mothers house and came back. I was in a room by then. They admitted me because my water had broken, but I needed to walk the halls since I was only dialated to 2cm. I spent hours walking and sitting on a labor ball. Finally like 5 hours later they decided to start pitocin to try to make the contractions harder. As soon as they unwrapped the bag of pitocin the contractions got more painful, but over the next few hours it did not work as well as they hoped. In the early afternoon I had been there for almost 12 hours and had not gotten past 5cm. I was told that if I did not make good progress in an hour I was going to ther OR for another c-section. At this point I asked for an epidural for pain. I had heard that sometimes failure to progress is linked to pain and muscle tension. They got me the epidural and in 2 hours I was complete. The baby was still really high, so they had me pushing while draped over a labor ball. I had the heaves and was throwing up bile. I honestly don't know how long I pushed, but my son was finally born at 5:08pm. It was a 17 hour labor, but actually better than my 1st delivery. Despite his shoulders getting stuck, I did not tear, or need to be cut. Within a few hours I could have walked to my postpartum room (they would not let me). When he was 4 days old I went to a bonfire at a friends house. No one could believe that I felt good enough to have a 4 day old baby out, but I did.

Well I was due May 26th 2008,I went 8 days overdue still no labour ,but I went that day for my fetal assesment, and I found out I had no Amniotic fluids left at all,so they decided to induce me that day.I went through 12 hours of labour, and my cervix still wasnt thined out enough, the baby was turned the wrong way, and her head was lauged in my pelvic area and was swollen, so after 12 hours they decided on a C-Section,of course I was scared out of my mind. But it all went well and I gave birth to a healthy baby girl named Adrianna Jayde,Born June 3rd 2008,she wieghed in at 8lbs 4oz.I spent 5 days in the hospital after the surgery. And now my daughter is 10 months old and is a very happy little girl :)

I was diagnosed with pre-e at 34 weeks and put on bed rest. I was going to the doctor twice a week for BP checks and NST on DD. At 35 wks 3 days DD was not responding the way my doctor wanted her to so we went for a bio-physical and we got 8/8. My doctor was going to be out of the office for my entire 36th week, but told me that if anything happened she'd come deliver me. At 35 wks 6 days I went for a growth scan and DD measured in at 5lbs. When I went to the doctor later that morning, she sent me to the hospital due to elevated BP and protien in my urine. She also told me that she didn't think I would make it to Friday, which would have been 36 wks 3 days. Well, I did. On that Friday, I went back for my 2nd appt. that week and that doctor sent me to the hospital again due to elevated BP after just sitting in the waiting room it was 150/110. They admitted me and put me on strict hospital bed rest. My doctor came to see me that Monday-36 wks 6 days, and told me we were inducing the next day.

The next morning, I was taken to L&D around 7, and by 8:15, I was on pitocin, magnesiam sulphate, my doc had broken my water, and had an epidurel in place to help with my BP. I was at 1 1/2 cm, 50%, and DD was at minus 2 station. At about 11, the door to my room was flung open and 3 nurses came running in. Two of them flipped me to my side and the other turned off the pitocin. My BP had bottomed out and DD heart rate dropped. Once everything leveled out again, they turned the pitocin back on. However, about 1:45 that afternoon, the same thing happened again. They paged my doctor-who was in the elevator coming up to check on me- to see what she wanted to do. She decided, after checking me and being exactly the same, excpet for being 3cm, that DD was not going to tolerate much more labor because with each contraction, her heartrate was dropping and was not coming back up as fast as they would have liked, that we were going to have to do a nonemergancy emergancy c-section. I was awake, but felt NOTHING(thank you drugs). In fact, I didn't even know they had started until I heard my baby cry. She was born at 2:13pm on December 30, 2008 weighing in at a whole 4lbs 14 oz and 17 inches long.

DD went straight to the newborn nursery, needed no oxygen, got an 8 and 9 on her APGARs, and passed her first hearing test. Her doctor said that other than being little, she was as healthy as could be. We went home January 2.

oh OUCH i might not have had pain relief but no tearing just bruising......I always labour in my back I think it is due to having endo, I always have to do it on all fours because during labour I cannot stand anything at al touching my back or belly

[deleted account]

Well my first was a dream. I woke up 6 am in mild labour. by 8 it was pretty regular 6 min apart. I got things ready for the hospital and left at 9am. My family had all arrived at midnight so they made it in time, but I was a bit tired. On the way to the hospital we had to pull over for my mom to throw up! That was crazy. Anyways got to the hospital and my little girl was born at 11:48am. I was up and around 20 minutes later. I had no drugs or anything.

#2 was a scheduled c-section due to size. It was not bad. I had a spinal and it didnt take too long to wear off.

#3 was a VBAC. I went into labour about 2am Valentines Day. We waited it out at home until about 6 am then headed to the hospital where I took forever to progress. I had back labour and where we were wouldn't give pain relief b/c it was a VBAC and only 21 months after my c/s. ALOT of pain with no results!!! So the dr took me for an emergency c/s. Then suddenly I went from 6cm to having a baby in under 5 minutes. I delivered her in the operating room!! Lots of tearing, but no drugs and no c/s!!!

#4 was also a VBAC. He went 2 weeks overdue and I was worried as he was showing so large on the u/sound. However they finally induced me and 4 hours later I had my baby. Extreme pain so I had a epidural after 2 hours. I could still feel everything but it was much subdued and I could concentrate on getting the baby out not the pain. However, his head and then his shoulders got stuck and his heart stopped so it was all a little scary. They called for the vacuum but I managed to push him out without it. YAH! I don't think I could have focused and done that without the epideral.

So those are my four very different births

first two were both induced, first one took 24 hours for the gels to induce the labour had braxon hicks ALL day, within 5 hours of inducing me they didnt have a bed for me, full moon apparently it was their busiest night in 50 years :S right in the middle of a maternity ward reno. lol

within 20 minutes of being in full labour they had a bed took me upstairs in a wheel chair because I couldnt stand during the contractions so I was kind of kneeling on it.

2 hour labour for eldest  natural NO PAIN RELIEF AT ALL!!!!

second was a 6 hour labour I actually got to use the gas this time and had a lovely halucination about a yellow chicken

(was only a year after my first and I could still remember what the head felt like)

apparently the midwife had found a yellow chicken to experience the birth for me.....then I felt the head and the hallucination ended and I realised it was a yellow bean bag she had shoved under me to stop me keeping my bum above my head lol I had slowed the labour for 6 hours. BANG born the moment I was upright....all I could think was "lieing you bastards"

3rd I was having braxon hicks all day at home, my husband just got home from an exam and my mum offered to have the kids because the braxon hicks were regular every 5 minutes as per usual all day they had been like that, we went to the hospital got there they said you arent in labour but you live half hour away would you like to stay

*look at each other* STAY!

so they organised a bed, they got me into the bed and checked again, oh opps you are in labour this way please (literally before I even got under the blanket) to the birthing suit

45 minute labour RECORD!!!! no pain relief again :S they just cant get it to me fast enough

aw man...my mom had a C-section with me and my twin brother because I had the umbilical cord wrapped around my neck and I know she said they had to put her to sleep because she was in so much pain so I could only imagine how much pain it would be having a C-section without anything....OUCH!!!

I had my first child on Nov. 24th. I was...well still am 23. :D Boy was it an experience!!! My cervix was 1cm dilated since the beginning of Nov. and my midwife thought I was going to give birth early. My little one's head was so low just my doggone cervix would not budge. So...on the 24th I went to have my week checkup and my dear midwife...THANK GOD...said she was going to induce my labor because I could not walk, sit, or do anything. I gave birth 5days early. Anywho...on to the labor. So after she induce my labor she told me the minute I felt contractions to go straight to the hospital because if I waited I would probably be having the baby at home. My sister was with me because my bf was at his first day at work. I called him first happily singing We're having the baby today!! I called my mom and went to pick her up from work. I was giddy. Then I started getting back pain as soon as we got to my mom's house. I did not know I was having contractions and was in labor. I told my mom and she told me I was in labor. This was within the hour. I didn't believe her because I thought I was supposed to have horrible pain like everyone told me. So I called my my midwife and she told me to go to the hospital and she'll meet me there.  We made it to the hospital at 3pm, my midwife broke my water(I didn't even realize it. I thought I peed on myself) and then they gave me an IV and that med that helps with the labor and get my cervix to creak open. I remember what the nurse said to me. She said, "You're still smiling, laughing, and making jokes. Not for long." Boy was she not kidding. I went from friendly til just plain irritable. I was in so much pain. I went in the whirpool to help relieve the pain because I wanted a natural birth. I stayed in there for awhile with the lights off and no one talking to me. I just did the breathing techniques and ignored everyone. Which Im surprised it worked for me because I hate pain. So finally my bf made it to the hospital. I believe it was 8pm or a little after. So the whirlpool effects stopped helping and I went on the bed to talk to my bf. I don't remember a word he said but I do remember that when I was ready to push I told him to  get the nurses (he was the only one in there because my mom and sister went to get some food and give us privacy). So my bf decides to take a horrible looking pic of me going thru possibly the worse labor pain EVER!!! and I had to not push...That was hard in my opinion. So I had one more of the gut wrenching painful contractions by the time everyone made it in the room. My sister said I was extremely polite during the pushing. I would ask can I push please. I bit my bf's hand four times and finally 20min later my little one was born!!! AHHH...

I had My daughter 7 years ago. It was the worst experience i ever went through. My contractions started at 6 am, i didnt go into hospital till 2pm and then was told it was early labour, the pain was herrendous. At 10pm i was finally taken to the delivery ward and was only 6cm dilated, i was in so much pain, when i asked for pain relief i was given 1 yes 1 paracetomol. I didnt want an epidural and asked for pethadine but was refused because my babys heart rate was decreasing. I was left alone in the room on my own with my birthing partner and didnt see a midwife for another hour and a half. She then said that i was only 7 cm dilated but was concerned with my babys heart rate...Not that concerned that she didnt come back. At 12.15 am i could hear my babys heart rate getting more and more weak that i called for my midwife who i had only seen on two occasions whilst being there and was told they were very busy, still with no pain relief other than a paracetomol in my system (great) i waited for my next contraction and started pushing my daughter out. I had delivered the head myself at this point when my midwife ran in and started shouting at me, i then delivered my daughter who was not breathing as the cord was round her neck. After 4 paeditricians ran in and helped my daughter, she was then fine. Myself on the other hand was completely torn inside and took 48 mins to sew me up at this point i was offered gas and air.....

Ive had 6 children and all of their labor and deliveries were different.  There is 20 years difference between my first and my last.  Which  meant there was quite a change in policies at the hospital.  I loved it for my last baby.  I had been in labor for two days and was not dialating.

The doctor kept telling me to go home and walk her down.  She wouldnt come.  They finally did a c-section and then realized why she wouldnt come down.  She weighed 10 lbs!    As you can imagine I did change doctors after that!

But I have had three natural and one came so fast the nurse actually delivered him.  I kept telling her I was having him and she wouldnt believe me.

Hmmm very lucky. Went into natural labour 7 days overdue with my first on Friday evening/Saturday morning. Went to hospital Sunday and told me to go away, we are full! Went back Sunday night after unbearable pain given a room and gas..... Monday given pethadine.....Monday night given epidural......the bastards let it run out and back in full intense pain rushed me for a C section Tuesday morning (rushed, yeah!) I felt everything during the Csection and collapsed asleep after they showed me my little boy. Then I heard them asking.....why is she sleeping....she must have something wrong with her. I could have smacked them......but had no energy. My little man was stuck in my pelvis, no intention of coming out. Which they already said about before I even went into labour. Between that and the nurse who asked me, are you going to have another one, while I was in labour.....

I have one little girl and I can't wait to have another.

Shayla was a dream prenancy and the birth was so easy to.

She was due on the 1st of August, I went into labour on the 31st of July at 11pm and Shayla arrived four hours later.

No pain relief, no cuts or tears or stitches either.

Half an hour of pushing and my baby girl was here.

She was 6 pounds 12 ounces, took to breast-feeding like a dream to.

Like I said, she made it so easy I can't wait to do it again.

WOW, i dont think i could handle being in labour for so many hours, the pain is awful but i guess we do it. i love hearing birth stories and i love telling mine.

i had my first in 3hrs 15 mins that is from the first contraction to birth.i was only 19 so didnt realise i was in labour i just thought i had a poo pain HEhehe so i sat on hte toilet for an hour trying to push this poo out lol then the show came and i realised it wasnt a poo. rang hospital told them they told me to stay home it is first time and ill be in labour for hours and it would probably be false labour anyway, so i rang my mum she came down i was crying and doing the washing trying to keep my mind off what was happening.my mum saw how intense my pain was and called the hospital again they told her same thing keep her home its probably false. by 8.15am 1hr 45min after my first pain my mum decided stuff the nurse advice she was taking me in.my contractions were all over the place 2 min , 5min, 1min,

it was an awfully uncomfortable drive in we got there and mum fumbled around worrying where to park i screamed at her to JUST PARK THE F***ING car.we jumped out but by that stage the pain was so bad i couldnt walk, so it was smoko for the cleaners who got a nice little show of the pregnant girl screaming and crying grabbed me a wheel chair and up to 11th floor we went just before 9am. my beautiful boy was born at 9.30am healthy 7lb 50z. i was so proud but exhausted i done it with absolutely no help from pain relief although i screamed for it i just couldnt get it , it went to fast. i did get 3 stitches because i tore as the midwife was assisting the head out i kicked him across the room and his hand was wrenched away which tore me.oops sorry.

my second was induced and yet again was told after my first contraction hit me like a truck ,we wont move you to labour ward you have awhile to go yet once i told them how quick my first came on his own i was moved pretty quick no pain relief again and yes screaming for it, to quick 2hrs 45mins and my second gorgeous boy was born 7lb.

9 years later just had to try once more for my girl , late again, so i was induced and wondering if the old tale is true that each labour does get quicker it seemed to be working that way for me so i hoped and decided for an epidural because i just did not want to feel that pain again......my first contraction hit at 12.00pm and it was ok then BAM 92mins later my darling daughter was born 7lb and my third drug free pregnancy was over. NO MORE THAT IS IT although i would like to test the theory again and see if i could go quicker again HEHEHEHE joking husband lol!
