My cousin is having twin girls they are due March 1, but they will probably come in Feb. This is her first pregnancy and she is naming them Stella and Neiva, after her and her fiances grandmothers that have both passed away. We are all very excited about having 2 little girls in the family.

We named ours after their paternal great grandmothers, Grace and Greer. At first it was going to be Greer and Grace, but when I looked at them closely I saw that wasn't right so I reversed them
They are now 54 (! that can't be right!) and among my very best friends ♥ ♥ ♥

I named my triplets in utero in birth order and their names suit them perfectly. I have Lila Elizabeth (family name), Ava Grace (my nickname is Grace), Keira Anne (my husband picked Keira and Anne was for my best friend.

I have twin girls who are now 5 Eloise Mary and Chloe Victoria. They are great fun it is hard at first, best to get into a routine and enjoy as time goes so fast. If bottle feeding have two kettles, one for the feeds and one for the rest of the family. Congratulations and have a wonderful time, x

My twin girls are Alaina and Hannah.. my son was 5 when I had my twin girls, he named the right side of my tummy- which was Alaina (twin A).. and I chose the other name with their dad.. as I have always loved the name Hannah.. I felt it was important to let my son name one of them, after all, he was going from an only child/only grandchild, to sharing the spotlight with twin sisters... I knew he needed to feel important too! ;)

As a mother of twin girls I love that thier names do not rhyme and aren't close to each other. Names are important and the first step to allowing them to be individuals and not a set. The goal is for them to be functional adults but with twins this is difficult because people naturally see them as a pair or set. So the next step is stressing to them and everyone else that they are individuals and should be treated as such. With my girls I made sure that I didn't dress them alike, they weren't in the same classroom (for several years they were at different schools), were encouraged to develop separate interests, spent time apart and I didn't feed into others comparisons (i.e. which one is smarter, more athletic, faster, more creative, etc...). Double the blessing but triple the work so offer lots of help and have fun!

I love the names your cousin has chosen, especially since they are borrowed from loved ones. She might change her mind when she meets them, tho. We were set with Mia for our little one until we met her, and eventually went with Erena!! Agree that giving the girls a sense of individuality, starting with different names, is important.

Those names are beautiful! My twin girls are Arianna & Bailey (yup, A & B are really A & B). We didn't find out the gender, so they were A&B all along. We weren't really set on their names until we had them and we used family names for their middle names. Having to find names for twins is hard! Being a mom of twins, I know that you will say their names and awful lot! ;-)

Yeah...have never had a name SET for the kiddos before they were born. My daughter(first born) is the only one that had a name going into delivery, and that was just the weekend before. We had two for my son(second born) and decided right after he was born. The twins went up until the Birth Certificate people walked in before we were 100% set. I guess because I refer to them as all the other endearing names while pregnant doesnt bother me so much. Funny enough...each of the kiddos is VERY much their names...almost freaky how much with my youngest. And yes...we do use family names, but as middle names...and never out of pressure but because we like them too...and they have to fit with the first name we pick.

We had twins last year, before i knew they were a boy and girl, we were trying to fit names for all senarios...I planned names just as though I were having separate pregnancy girls. I know some go for the same letter names or such, but I wanted them to have names that were their own...as with twins they are already "connected" in so many ways a a name was one way for me to give them separate identities. With a boy and girl, they have names that start with different letters.

Ahh I would name the twins in utero. I would want to be saying like this is Anika over here on my left side and Sapph is down lower to the right. Etc. I'd want the dr to call them by name and not say A and B

we don't do family names here either. the name would have to be really awesome sounding if we did end up choosing a family name. i am a strong believer in allowing children to have individuality. IF i ever had twins, they would not have rhyming names or names that start with the same letter. Each child's name would be chosen because we like it, because no one else in our close circle of friends/family has it, and because it's a name that suits them (i.e. i wouldn't decide until after the babies were born to choose who gets which name. i would not decide ahead of time that twin A is going to be this name and twin B is going to be that name).

I like the names your cousin has chosen, especially since they are inherited names. My favorite names are those after someone or old fashioned names. Never thought what I'd name twin girls, but my two girls are Eliza Grace and Jacie Lynn. Both are a combo of names we liked and names belonging to loved ones. Maybe I'd name twin girls after their two grandmothers...Cynthia and Charlotte. Huh...now I kinda like that!
