Louise's advice is excellent. And yes, you can most certainly have an egg if you have gestational diabetes. When I had it, my usual breakfast was a boiled egg and a thin slice of Weight Watchers bread with some peanut butter on it, and a 1/2 cup of milk. For a snack, a handful of almonds. For lunch, usually a Lean Cuisine (check the carb count on the back -- the lower the better), and a big green salad. For afternoon snack, a handful of almonds and a sugar-free yogurt. And for supper, usually meat and veg, and instead of potatoes or pasta, i'd have sweet potato or a small slice of bread. Sugar-free Jello makes a great dessert as well, so you don't feel deprived.
There is a good website called dlife (http://www.dlife.com/diabetes/informatio...) that has support groups for gestational diabetes, nutritional information, and lots of great info for you. I'm not going to lie, having GD can be really frustrating sometimes. It's a lot of trial and error -- something that one woman with GD could eat, another woman with GD can't. So you have to monitor your blood glucose closely, keep a food diary of what you eat and what your glucose was an hour afterwards, and you'll soon start to get a much better idea of what foods you can eat and what to avoid. I was told I could eat a small quantity of cereal, but ANY cereal shot my glucose through the roof. So it really is a lot of trial and error, but stick with it -- it's all for your baby's health, and if you manage your GD well, your baby should be just fine.

Gestational diabeties is easily treated with diet or controlled with tablets. You should of been told about diet and how badly you are affected. You need to keep blood sugar levels even throughou the day. This means eatting carbohydrates found in bread, potatoes pasta and rice. Basically cut out sugary foods and do not eat to much fresh fruit as this is also high in frucotse which is another form of sugar. It is important however to eat fresh vegetables and fruit to maintain a healthy diet just everything in moderation. Go back to the doctors and ask to speak to a diabetic nurse who should be able to advise you on a healthy diet for you to stick to. Don't worry it is not difficult to stick to and is a good healthy diet to have whilst pregnant.
