Forget the sex an walking.. all you have to do it Drink lemon juice or castor oil.. My friend did it an im telling you,, your baby will be comming tonight lol.. but it made her have contractions an then the baby came.. try it!!

DO NOT DRINK CASTER OIL!!!!

There are reasons medications and herbs are regulated during pregnancy. Caster oil can cause not only YOU but the baby to have very frequent loose stools, with a fetus that means meconium which is not good for the baby , they can swallow that and you will end up with the first 5 minutes after birth having the baby's stomach pumped.

The only thing you should do is use all natural safe methods like sex, sex because the sperm ripens the cervix and helps it to efface. Walking helps to put baby in position thanks to gravity pulling down. Nipple stimulation works because its releases oxytocin which is exactly what they will give you to induce labor, petocin which is synthetic oxytocin.

Never use herbal remedies, or oils during pregnancy they can adversly affect the baby. Not everything crosses the placental barrier but many things do and i wouldn't risk my child for anything. It all depends on which drugs are schedule a, b, c drugs and herbs. You can get a list from your local pharmacist.

NO CASTOR OIL!!! What are we in the middle ages?

Walking, hot baths with tummy fully covered, sex and nipple simulation are proven SAFE methods to induce labour. Swallowing sperm will not help the sperm must come into contact with the cervix to help soften/shed it and last I checked you can't get pregnant from oral or kissing so that won't work :). Walking helps engage the baby and actually helps lessen labour length. Hot baths help determine the difference between false labour and real labour. 20 minutes in a hot bath.. as hot as you can stand with your belly fully submerged *you may have to lay on your side to do this*. If its false labour it will stop if its real labour it will come on stronger. Not sure why the nipple stimulation works but I am sure its related to the fact that when you nurse your uterus contracts and shrinks after the baby is born.

Just relax...no baby ever stayed in there....and inducing means harder labor...they won't let you go over two weeks though...

When I was pregnant I was overdue and hoping to pop over the weekend so I would get a different doctor for my delivery, the doctor I was hoping for told me this:

Take a walk (about a mile) at a decent pace. Go home, have sex. Than take a nice hot bath followed by a glass of wine. Instant contractions...

I have to say it didn't work for me well enough to get me into the hospital that night, but it did start my contractions.

Getting regular exercise can help, like doing a bunch of walking-if you already exercise, maybe try doing a little more. Walking especially helps once labor begins.

I know this is the last thing you want to hear when you are expecting and over due. SEX works!! And my mother said she went dancing and dance into the morning and everytime the next day she went into labor.

I took Black Cohash an herb, to get things moving along. Be very careful. This is very potent and had the same effects as being induced... Such as intense labor. If your not prepared for an intense labor, beware.

just have regular checkups, like daily to ensure that the baby is well, the doctor should be able to decide to induce when he thinks the baby is now long overdue,no need for you to panic, but make sure u go for a check up every day or better still, check urself into Hospital till the birth.

I tried absolutely everything! 2 out of 4 of my children were overdue. When I hit the due date with my 4th I was determined not to go overdue again so asked my midwife for a sweep then went out for a walk. I made a big deal of stomping my way down the hill on the way home. I had a show about 5 mins after arriving hm and two hrs later my little boy arrived.

Good luck! I hope your labour starts naturally but remember the end product is the same either way and how the baby arrives is soon a distant memory.

I orig come from Atlanta Ga! but have lived overseas for past 25 yrs an have heard so many old wives from (middle eastern an influence of India) tales of how to an what to do during pregnancy, being that we had 5 children of our own,the last posted information last wowed me,other than the sex part! LOL:) During this time an stage it was very difficult to come to that part of a sexual peak without discomfort, right. But it would be a fun game trying if your willing too,ur hubby will be happy to be a part of.I say try the natural approach an also the tea an oils,an I will keep u in my pray thoughts an wish you a happy healthy delivery an most of all a strong healthy baby! I had both of my labors induced a week early and had no problem what so ever but there is a risk of it not working and then you will have to get a c section. My sister was over due with her baby and the dr massaged the membranes.. She didnt have a partner to have sex with but she bought a toy haha and believe it or not she went into labor that night so if you dont feel like having sex try that! Good luck :)

Ugh! I know what it's like to have a baby that's overdue. Mine was by a week. I don't know any tried and trues to make a little one come faster (Sorry!). Being induced, though, really isn't a big deal. I had to do it and so do lots of other moms so you're soooooooooooooo not alone.

Anyway, Good luck! Sorry, I couldn't be more of a help to you.

Hey There Shamara, Don't stress about it!!!! Try and relax the due date is just an estimate. Heaps of walking - the gravity effect. Praying also helps - we tried all the old wives tales when we were 1 week overdue none of them worked. They come when they're ready (or when the doctor plans otherwise) good luck with it all try and stay calm and relaxed keep on walking. Tara

H iSharma, dont be in too big a hurry to have your baby. True labour begins when you little bundle of joy is born and continues for at least the next 18 years.. In saying that you can bring your labour on in a number of ways. Try a long walk, at a brisk pace. ALternatively find the bumpiest road and drive over that. A hot bath is also a good way to get things started and back in my mothers day a hearty dose of cod liver oil was another kick start. My favourite however is natural prostaglandins. So if you can manage it enjoy a night of hot sex can get you started. Good luck. Jude. (mum of 4 sons)

Ask your doctor to "strip your membrames." My doctor did this on my actual due date and said if it were to work, which it usually does, I would be in labor in 48 hours or less. We scheduled an induction for a 6 days past my due date just in case. My doctor doesn't allow mothers to go a week past their due date due to the health risks for the mother. This is what she practiced. There was no need for the induction as I went into labor on my due date (that very day, actually a few hours after my visit) due to the stripping of the membrames. My doctor told me that walking around to induce labor was a myth. Hope this helps.

try sitting in cold tub of water, or go to a swimming pool, then get a warm cup of green tea. This helps to relax the body and prepare it for labor. Stop rushing the process the baby will come

i am 62 years old and i too was overdue (by a month with 1st one), i took a double dose of mild laxative and went into labor by the next morning. my 2nd too was 2 wks. late did the same thing and was again in labor by 6:00 am. did not hurt the baby in any way. but then that was from the advice from my mother, old remedies.

Oddly enough, this worked for me......I took down my curtains, washed them, and then hung them to dry on a clothesline. I actually had to hang a line in my carport. The repetitive up and down motion stimulated contractions. You could just try toe touches, but the house smells good when the curtains are cleaned. ;p

Raspberry leaf tea, mints of some description (the stronger the better) and lots of walking. Be careful with the castor oil, it can cause an upset stomach. Never heard of the lemon juice theory - worth a try. The sex and nipple stimulation do help, but it's very much a male answer!!!

Sex worked with both of mine! :) Even though I didn't necessarily feel "sexy" enough to do it (tee hee), I'm a believer! I hear of so many guys that won't touch mama because of the big belly, so I felt blessed that my husband thought I was still a hottie, no matter how big the belly!

Also, tell him to give you a foot massage, too. My midwife swore that massage around the ankles stimulates labor. Did u have the baby yet???

[deleted account]

Well, everyone has mentioned having sex which is one. But my friend was two weeks overdue and they told her to start drinking caffeine.

I tried everything but the Castor oil. I had heard too many stories of babies having bm's in the uterus and having breathing troubles for years afters. Nothing worked. nipple stimulation, lots of sex, spicy food, walking. One day I walked so far my hip went out! My doctor induced a week later, and everything went fine. Most doctors won't let you go past 41 weeks, 42 at the most. Just be patient, you only have a few more days at most. Congratulations!!

sex usually works as long as both you and your husband orgasm. i was told by the doctor that there is a chemical in the sperm that helps the cervix dialate. also old wives tales i heard were to eat fresh pineapple or raspberry leaf tea. castor oil was also mentioned, but from what i heard now a days it just makes you go to the bathroom.

And forget all the horr stories of being induced they arent true it doesnt make contractions so close to gether you cant stand it i didnt notice any differance at all then i did with my first child. And if it gets to much for you to handle then you can always get an epadural! Good LUCK!

Congratulations on your new pending arrival! From everything I read when I was pregnant, the books always said nipple stimulation and sex could start labor. Of course when you are 9 mos pregnant sex is not always the easiest thing to accomplish. The one thing I did that worked for me was taking a long drive on a very bumpy road. My son was born 24 hours later. Good luck. Keep reminding yourself that the baby will not stay in there forever.

First, keep in mind that "due dates" are guesstimations so you may or may not be over due. I believe in walking walking walking. The day prior to the birth of both of my children I did A LOT of it even though with the second I had swollen ankles and it was very uncomfortable. With child number one I walked all over a college campus gathering end of semester grades, visiting with professors, etc. With child number two I walked all over a large park with child number one. Hang in there. That baby will get here exactly when it is suppose to!

Thanks Kathy for being smart on your reply. Here is the thing if you try all the safe & natural methods & baby is not ready, that is just it baby is not done "cookin". Ultra-sounds can also be off on due date by 1-2+ weeks & can also be off on amniotic fluid prediction. I am not bashing the medical world! there is a time & place but, 95% YES 95% of births are low-risk, no need for medical intervention....Women need to take back our rights as capable of childbirthing naturally & safely. Society has placed such a fear in most of us that we can't do this on our own.. In our own time! :) Sorry Very Very Very passionate about women & there rights in childbirth. RISKS OF INDUCING LABOR

First-time mothers have approximately twice the likelihood of a C-section1 of induced labor as compared with spontaneous labor. C-SECTION IS MAJOR SURGERY!

Induced labors can be more painful.

Induced labors can result in a premature baby (a baby who is not fully developed). #1 RESULT IN PROBLEMS/DEATH IN NEWBORNS

Induced labors cause the need for more interventions (IVs, continuous fetal monitoring, etc.)

Induced labors can cause problems such as uterine hyperstimulation (which can cause fetal distress).

Women are left believing that their bodies are not able to birth a baby.

Induced labor is often MORE TRAUMATIC ON BABY' because the strength of the contractions are unnaturally strong.
