My last two were fairly large (9lb, 4oz and 10lb, 3 oz). When I felt they were getting too big, I got busy and did housework, yardwork, even had my husband drive over a bumpy road. It did work, because both times I went into labor within 24 hours of increasing my exercise and activity. Hopefully your baby has already come, but if not, this may work for you too. Good luck!

i was a week overdue my doctor told me that friday he would induce me at 6 am. i went into labor thursday night at 1030 pm. if your doctor decides to induce you sometimes the baby will start the night before. same thing happend with my friend we were due the same day and she was scheduled to be induced the day before me and she went into labor the night before she was to be induced.

My midwife told me the same way the baby gets in there is the same way to get the baby to come out ...sex and more sex! I also was walking everyday. I know this isn't what you probably want to hear but I was told many times that when the baby is ready the baby will come. Some babies take 41 weeks to develop. When to induce is something that you can decide on with your Dr too. I have heard that inducing makes the labor much more painful though...so if I were you and had the choice to wait just a few more days it might be worth it. No matter what you decide best wishes to you and your little one to come :-)

Starting walking girlfriend! Gravity will help the baby to move down into position! Great Luck to you!

Walking can help and so can sex. They say drinking rasberry tea can help too but I've never tried it for that purpose and drink it all the time just because I like it. Good luck! I know it's miserable.

First, due dates are a cruel joke to mess with our pshyche. Your baby has it's own due date and obviously it's not the one the doctor assigned! Hang in there, no baby ever didn't come out! There are the usual walks you can take, drinking mothers tea, massages down there, but mostly your body will get there in its own time. Inducing makes for much more painful labor than if you allow your body to release it's own hormones, so unless there are complications and it becomes necessary I would avoid it. Know you are not alone many of us have been there and we all got through it and had beautiful healthy babies.

Be patient love,do not do anything except normal exercise, baby will come when it is ready.Quite often in the last week or two, the discomfort you feel is very early preparation for birth ,and helps with easy birthing.
Some of these backyard induction methods are downright dangerous, others can prolong labor.Talk to your doctor,if all is well, let nature take its course. The gift is worth the wait.

There are pressure points to avoid during pregnancy (as they bring on labor)...why not try these since you are at full term?

Try rubbing castrol oil on your tummy and then driving on a bumpy road. It works well have two neices to prove it.

Hi, I was told by a cousin that if you sit on the floor, cross your legs and rock from side to side- this will bring on the baby. I have suggested this to others however haven't had any feedback.

get in a hot bath with a glass of red wine (one glass will not hurt a fully termed baby), go to bed...labor will happen as soon as your feet hit the floor in the morning...did it with both of my children...swear by it!!!

Quoting Angie:

Forget the sex an walking.. all you have to do it Drink lemon juice or castor oil.. My friend did it an im telling you,, your baby will be comming tonight lol.. but it made her have contractions an then the baby came.. try it!!

DO NOT DRINK CASTER OIL!!!!

There are reasons medications and herbs are regulated during pregnancy. Caster oil can cause not only YOU but the baby to have very frequent loose stools, with a fetus that means meconium which is not good for the baby , they can swallow that and you will end up with the first 5 minutes after birth having the baby's stomach pumped.

The only thing you should do is use all natural safe methods like sex, sex because the sperm ripens the cervix and helps it to efface. Walking helps to put baby in position thanks to gravity pulling down. Nipple stimulation works because its releases oxytocin which is exactly what they will give you to induce labor, petocin which is synthetic oxytocin.

Never use herbal remedies, or oils during pregnancy they can adversly affect the baby. Not everything crosses the placental barrier but many things do and i wouldn't risk my child for anything. It all depends on which drugs are schedule a, b, c drugs and herbs. You can get a list from your local pharmacist.

I have four children and was over due with three of my boys, about 10 to 12 days. I was told to have sex to induce labour. Also brisk walking, drinking raspberry leaf tea and stimulating your nipples can all help, i use to rub paw paw onitment into my nipples. If u can't drink the raspberry tea, try the tablets form health food store, i started taking them about 32 weeks, it also helps to rippen your cervix.

My doctor told me to take ALOT of walks and have sex and to stimulate your nipples. And if that fails then patience is the key.

Just relax...no baby ever stayed in there....and inducing means harder labor...they won't let you go over two weeks though...

well... they say sex is the way to go because of the progesterone in the semen but... (hate to say it) it actully works 10x more affectivly if it is absorbed throught the stomach wall!!! thats right you heard it right! so hate to say it but ummm... get swallowing.... lol

The only things that are really proven to work are nipple stimulation and sperm on the cervix. So have lots of sex basically. Sperm has a chemical in it that ripens the cervix just like the gel they use in hospitals to induce.

Kimberly - posted on 10/25/2009

Walking helps move the baby down into position but you have to do a lot of walking. And if you feel up to it, have sex with your partner with you being on bottom the whole time. And his semen helps cause contractions. Feet massage also helps to start contractions but it doesn't always work.

My midwife suggested having sex to induce labor. Even if it doesn't work to get labor started, it's fun.
