implanon and iud birth control??

I have the Mirena IUD. My periods are almost all gone (I've only had it in for a few months), I haven't had any weight gain associated with it, but I have been noticing that I'm more emotional. It did weird me out a bit at first knowing that there was something in me, but I got over that pretty quickly and now I don't even think about it.

My cousin has had an IUD for the last 6 years. She has to change it every five years and she loves it. She does not have periods very often and she does not have to hassel with anything. Plus they are not like when our parents had them.

I have the Mirena. I love it.
Getting it placed was uncomfortable, but not painful. It has stopped my periods (once a month I get like, one spot lol, that's all) so tampons aren't an issue (they aren't recommended because the Mirena strings could get caught in the cotton) but a menstrual cup is ok.
As for sex, DH can feel the strings on occasion, but we just switch position and that fixes things. I've had it for almost a year and a half and he's only felt the strings twice.
I have had no weight gain, nor have I had any weird emotional roller costers lol.
It's perfect for me! ♥ lol

The IUD is placed in your uterus. A man's penis only goes into the vagina, it does not normally go past the cervix and enter the uterus. So no, a man would not feel it. Tampons, same thing, they only stay in the vagina and would not bother it or pull it out.

I can't imagine how they would effect weight gain/loss.

i think im going with the IUD i have a apt wed. to do it. the biggest thing for me is the thought of something being in my "private area" all the time. can you feel? can the man feel it during sex? what about if i use tampons does that cuz any issue cuz of the string? oo yea and weight gain?? please if any one can answer these question it would be great!

I had implanon many years ago.. wow, like 15? so it probably isn't even the same stuff they use now. But i think it had too much testosterone in it. I bled quite a bit the first year, it was suppose to last 5 years, after 4 i started bleeding alot again and they removed it. quite a bit of discomfort in my arm during implantation and removal and the side effect was facial hair on my chin and upper lip, i now have to wax, and tweeze.. yayy!!

If i had to do it again, i'd go IUD. Lucky for me, i'm with a man who is fixed. A vasectomy for a man is a much less evasive surgery and is totally reversible. They can start reproducing sperm almost immediately. He doesn't appear to have any side effects from that, and even better.. *I* don't have ANY side effects from his vasectomy!! yay me!!

I have an Implanon, and I love it... for me it has no side effects how ever I do know people you it just didn't work for.

I had an IUD for years it was great never had to worry if I had it. No pain or anything like that, but oh yeah no period absolutly wonderful.
As far as impanon my sister got that about four monthes ago. At first it was just the pain in her arm from the implant, but now i isthe bleeding she has had ever since. Her Dr. just perscribed hig doses f estrogen to try and stop it. I know it is a great form of birth control, I just wanted to let you know what I have seen with both. Everybody is different so your experence may be diffrent.

My daughter in-law has the Mirena IUD...and she hasn't had any trouble with it...It has stopped her menustral cycle also...She likes that part.
