My 7 1/2 month old is scared of shadows. When I put her in her high chair in the evening to eat, the shadows scare her and she starts screaming. I've covered her high chair with a dark pillowcase so she doesn't notice the shadows. Any other tips? How long will this last? Is there anything else I can do so she doesn't get scared?

My son is afraid of the shadows in his room, we have 2 night lights in his room and the first thing he was scared by was his ceiling fan, we took it down, then he was scared of the shadow caused by the curtain, we took the night lights out he didn't like the dark, and I like to be able to see him without having to turn on a light. So we took the curtains down, so far he hasn't said anything which is good. I can't really give an advice but maybe try to take them away and you could maybe to shadow puppets ie. bunny

My daughter became convinced there was a lady in the room who moved when she moved at about 2 1/2. We finally figured out that she was scared of her shadow, and that she hadn't watched too much scooby doo after all. She just outgrew it though.

I'm sorry I don't have any advice, but you aren't the only one whose child is/was afraid of her shadow! It took 3-4 months for her to get over it, and she would freak out when she saw "the lady." Fortunately, she was old enough we could watch Peter Pan and use his explaination of his shadow. (The part where Wendy sews it back on for him).
