If it does then I must be an awful mother. I love having a glass of wine or something to wind down at the end of the day. I dont even necessarily wait for her to be in bed to have one - but I never have more than one unless there is someone else around who isnt having any because I feel that someone needs to be fully capable of driving her to hospital at all times - although hopefully it is an unnecessary precaution but Im not willing to take the risk.

Your life doesn't have to end once you become a mother. Responsible adults can have drinks if they want to. So you go ahead and have that glass of wine, or two or three lol. Just don't get plastered if you are the only caretaker for the night!

We have a fully stocked bar in our house & have friends over about every other weekend for some drinks. We also have a 13 year old & a 10 month old. My 10 month old is usually in bed when I have my 1st drink but not my 13 year old. I see nothing wrong w/ drinking as long as you don't drive & are able to get up w/ your kids in the morning. I'm a hillbilly so drinking is totally normal even if the kids are around. Whenever there is a social event there is almost always drinking involved & I'm not talking falling down drunk but beer, cocktails ect. I guess I don't understand why once people have kids they don't think they should ever have another drink. We're all adults (I think) & we're allowed to have a few drinks when we choose too.

There's nothing wrong with having a drink or 2 every once in a while......
It's not like you can't take care of your child when you do. Unless of course you drink to get drunk or "feel" it.
Hubby and I have a Smirnoff or a glass of wine or so sometimes, if we decide to go out one of us has to be designated, just in case there's something with the kids and at least one of us can drive.

As long as you're able to take care of them if the event of an emergency I don't think it's a problem. Yes you're a mother, but you're a human being too. You're allowed to have some grown up time and grown up activities. Also you should not be drinking if you're breastfeeding, unless you pump and dump the next feeding.

I think it's perfectly fine to have a drink or two, as long as you are still able to tend to your children, and not getting plastered.

my last drink at home was at Christmas time before then i cant even remember lol.i think its more than okay to have a drink once in a blue moon.why not.we don't go out so on a occasion its nice to unwind and relax well for me my partner doesn't drink.:)it does not make you a bad mom.i cant get over why some feel the end to push these silly comments on others and there probably the ones that go out every weekend getting blind drunk.

[deleted account]

I had "me" time or a date with my husband. We would have a sitter for the kids. At home I would have an occasion glass of wine.

As long as baby is fine and there are other responsible adults around just in case an emergency would arise I think a drink or two is fine. Myself I never drank around my kids. My kids are 21 and 22 and I still don't drink around them. But its not any thing about anyone else its just a personal choice. :)

The girl is 15 and not mature enough to make those comments considering she has never been an adult in an adult situation or had children , dont worry about it :)

NO!! Baby will not be happy if you aren't happy!! you need to relax. and as long as you're not completely off your tree there really is no harm.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, I tend to have one or two drinks ( usually on the weekends) with my husband once my lil girl has gone to bed. She sleeps through the night and even if she did wake up I only ever have two so I can look after her no worries. I find it is a great way to unwind and just relax with my husband acting like grown ups again! I have a sister who is 15 and they know just what to say to get under your skin sometimes lol!!!

No. The press is still out about nursing and drinking BUT if you aren't nursing NO! :) If you are nursing.... well..... hey, personally my thing is that you need to drink only one or so drinks AND either pump, dump and use a bottle at the next feeding OR it needs to be far enough away that you aren't passing it to your baby through your milk!

With Mikey hubby took me and a friend to Olive Garden. He KNOWS my weakness is Berry Sangria's. I really don't drink other than that. I nursed Mikey while I waited, drank lots of water, ate (very important) and had two Sangrias which are basically juice anyway LOL (Very little actual wine). Mikey slept for four hours and I was comfortable feeding him when he was next hungry... before that four hours I don't think I would have nursed him....

If you aren't nursing.. as long as you aren't falling down drunk I don't see a problem with drinking with your kiddos in the house... if you feel the need for a good falling down drunk (and I have to admit I have been there several years ago during my first divorce), send the kids to a sitter for the night and have fun! LOL! :)

Oh, if you are drinking and want to get to a buzz or more... me personally, I would want to make sure another adult was in the house JUST IN CASE! But that's just me!

ya just have to over look idiots like that..as long as you don't think there is anything wrong with it then its ok..and everyone is gonna have something to say when it comes to you having a child believe me..i have been called a bad mother so many times..but my son is happy, health and my pride and joy..i would never do anything to put him in harms way..now if thats a bad mother i don't want to know what they think a good one is..just take care of yourself and your baby and let them talk that means they are jealous and that your always on their mind...lol..sometimes i get so pissed b/c ppl talk shit but then i start thinking if i get pissed off then they win..why give them the satisfaction of getting to me...so i let it go and take care of my family..that 15 year old needs to mind her own business and stop trying to tell a grown ass woman what to do..if she does it again tell her to mind her business that your the adult not her..and if she doesn't like it she can leave..as for her sister i know to many wannabe mothers like that..i mean its ok to go out like once maybe twice a month but not every night..its crazy..they can open there legs and get knocked up but don't want to be a parent they want everyone to do that part for them..sorry got a little caught up there...my favorite thing is when women with no kids try to tell you what to do and how to do it..those are always fun...are the bad mothers that never have their kids tell you your a bad mother...haha those are so funny i can't help but laugh at them...its great

honestly aslong as you arent getting blind drunk and you are abe to care for your baby, I dont see a problem. Oh and as long as you arent breastfeeding. Dont listen to wat other ppl say, especially a 15yr, ur the adult and parent... Im sure ur responsible enough to have a glass or 2 of wine and still able to care for ur baby!

i believe a glass of wine or a beer or two here and there is ok as long as you don't get s*** faced drunk while your child is around its ok..i like to have a drink every now then after i put my son down for the night it helps me unwind and relax..i usually drink it while taking a nice long hot bubble bath..something i don't get to that often due to my hubby always needing me to do something.usually he stays out of my way..and sometimes if he knows i have had a long stressful day he will pour me a glass of wine and run me a bath.(how sweet is that..not to worry it took time to train him..lol)he isn't always willing to do it..but every now and then he gets a sweet bone in his body..most of the time he knows i need a break from being mommy and wifey all day so he leaves me alone..lol

i agree as long as you can still tend to your child needs and not getting blind drunk a few drinks here and there are not going to hurt i only have 2 drinks at the most when we at home drinking the only time i drink more is when I'm staying out for the nite and my husband looking after if I'm coming home i stop after a few which is different for everyone i hope this helps

i dont drink if my daughter is near me..however my mum or sis will look after my daughter once a month so i can go out and socialise with friends..even though i ALWAYS say i wont drink some of the time i do,lol..i see nothing wrong with it...i USUALLY put my daughter to bed and am back there early in the morning ( sometimes with a hangover, lol)

On NYE i did have a bottle of wine but that was over 6hrs so i didnt get intoxicated and my daugter was in the same house as i was, because we were at my parents place...

I would NEVER get drunk at home with my child, only because i think it is dangerous...but a glass or 2 of wine i do not think is a problem.
