Dont be worried !! My twin girls are almost 15 months and trying to walk. One just started walking by herself and the other is still scared of falling. I was worried at first, but just thinking about chasing them both I am glad they are not walking full force ...yet!

No, don't worry, my son didn't walk till he was 13 months. If your bubs are chubba bubs, then they may take longer. But if they are helathy and they are cruising around the furniture, I say don't worry, they will get there.

My godson was walking and talking so late--almost three years old-- that his parents took him to a pediatric neurologist just to check things out...and now he is 19 years old, six feet/eight inches tall, a state champion basketball star, and on a full academic scholarship at a top university. It sounds like your twins are doing just great! It's hard to see other kids hitting milestones earlier, but within six months, your twins will probably be running and you will be looking back at these days longingly!

Not at all! My son started walking at 15 months. Just keep them without any socks on so that they can feel the floor and grip with their feet and toes ~ it'll give them confidence.

I would not worry. My son started walking at 17 months. He just decided one day that he was ready!

No worries - It'll happen fast one day and you'll wonder why you ever worried :) All of my kids were almost 15 months before they walked :)

I have twins and they didn't walk until they were 15 and 16 months old. Nothing wrong with them. I think because there were two of them, they didn't have the same desire to get up and go as out kids have. THey always had someone next to them to occupy them.

They will be walking before you know it. My son did not walk until he was 15 months. I thought he would never do it. He literally went from crawl to run in a week. Then I started missing the days when I didn't have to worry about him moving around so much.

No, don't worry! :) When my daughter was younger we knew a number of babies who didn't walk until well after a year (15 months, 18 months ...), but by the time they all turned 2 you couldn't tell who had started walking late and who had started early :)

I think you will find that when they are ready to start walking they will and there will be no stopping them after that. Watch out world here they come lol. One may move to things faster then the other and the other may do other things faster.

no...don't worry. My twins walked at 15 months. They actually both did it the same evening. One walked and the other one just looked at him with this expression that said 'Oh...I can do that too" and off he went! You will find that twins are always a little latter than other kids at most milestones. Especially male twins! But they get there eventually just the same! Enjoy the ride.

Don't worry...my oldest son was almost 15 months when he started walking. I was almost 7 months pregnant with my second and carrying around my son who weighed more than the average 2 yr old (he was born 10 lbs). My doctor said he'd walk when he was ready. And once he started he never stopped!!! Good luck!

I didn't walk until 18 months of age. My brother (21 months older than me) didn't start walking until he was 17 months old.

My first was 15 months when he walked. He is 3 1/2 now and ahead in almost everything. So don't worry (like i did:). He walked when he was ready. My 2nd was 11 months. My first was speaking in short sentences before he turned 1. Second is 2 1/2 and really just starting to do that. They all do different things at different times. It is not always a sign that something is wrong. Sometimes they excel at first in one area and catch up later in the others. Your doctor will let you know when and if it is time to be concerned. Enjoy it while it lasts. Before you know it you'll be chasing them all over the place!

I would not worry for a second. The average age for walking is 15 months and anything between 12 months and 18 months is considered normal. If your two little rug rats are cruising around than they are right on time.
Some kids just have more confidence to let go and give that whole free flying thing a try, others prefer to wait until they have developed more stability before they try to go solo.
I got a great tip from my friend when my daughter was still cruising and obviously could walk but just didn't feel confident to go for it. My husband and I sat on the floor across from echother and let the baby walk from the one to the other, slowly increading the distance, if she fell than she fell into our arms and we made a game of it. Within a week or two she started taking a few steps on her own between the chair and the table and such. Then one day she just took off and hasn't stopped yet.

Good luck and relax

Absolutley not! It is perfectly normal for them not to walk at that age. All children are different. Try not to do the 'keeping up with my friends kids' thing. We are all individuals. :)

My twins are now 3 1/2, and didn't really start walking on their own until they were about 16 months. I was a little worried, too, but once they got going, they were running. Late walkers are not a bad thing, though, if you think things are chaotic now, just wait!

Not at all, don't sweat it. I too worried, when my very strong and active son was not walking. He actually took his first real solo steps at nearly 16 months and has never looked back. I was very concerned as there should have been no reason in my mind he was not walking. But I think the contributing factors were that we were living in a home with very plush carpeting so crawling was comfy, he was an impressively fast crawler so it was efficient, and finally I have discovered that he truly does things in his own time - when he gets something very well, then he does it. He has been like this with sitting, crawling, walking and talking. Don't stress!

My daughter was born at 31 weeks and did not walk until she was 15 mos old. Not a concern, as my daughter is now 2 and 1/2 and runs with the best of them!

Some children develop at different rate. I have friends who child did not walk until some 2yrs and when they did they ran not walk and continue walkin from then. Let them grow to there pace. Once they are health nothings else matter. But i understand your concern. Dont be to flustered they are walkin but they are not ready to do it by them selve.

Plus, I breast fed them, so they were super fat. That will always slow you down. My daughter was BF'ed too and walked at 14 months and now I have a 9 month old fat breast fed baby and he isn't even crawling. He is happy to drag himself around with his arms. If yours are fat it will slow them down. I once saw a 7 month old walking. She was so skinny, I wanted to pull her under my shirt and feed her myself! It was super cute to see such a tiny person walking, though.

I have twins that are now 9 years old. They were 9 weeks preterm, but totally healthy, only lacking sucking reflexes and small. 3lb 12oz & 3lb 8oz. They walked at 15 & 16 months. They are perfectly formed. Not a thing wrong with them, except they are lazy like their father! (My ex!)

Not at all. It is actually better for their development in the long term if they crawl for longer.

Dont worry at all! I think all mothers stress about this I know I did. My son didnt start taking his first steps till 16 months he is now 18 months and is very quick. I use to stress about it as many of my friends children were walking at 12 months. I think he just didnt have the confidence to walk by himself so just took him a bit longer. Dont worry they will do it in their own time!

You probably have nothing to worry about. But my almost 3 yr old now did not walk til he was 16 months but that was because he ha water in his ears and his equallibrium was off.Once he got those tubes put in his ears boy did he take off it seemed like within days.

Don't stress yourself out over it! I have 15 month old twin boys and one of them just started walking 2 days ago, the other is still holding onto things. Twins normally develop a little later than a single baby, especially if they were born early. Any day now they will let go!

No definitely not. The average age a baby will start to walk is anywhere between 12-18 months. Your twins still have time to figure it out :)

I wouldnt be worried i have been told upto 18 months is around when you should start to become concerned. My little girl was just over 14 months when she started but was always stiff legged so we thought she would walk earlier but no. All i can say is most kids walk when they feel safe and ready but do be aware if they are on the stiff side. I say this mainly because it only came out when i pointed out to my dr that my girl dragged a leg when she started walking. It was only then that a proper exam where he got quite rough was done and gave her hips a real work over did i find out that she had a hip partly out of place since birth. She had a bunch of tests and things after because my dr heard the click and a few months of stiff walking on and off but is now 4 and perfectly fine. Although like any of us that have hurt a joint good enough has days when she is a bit slower mainly cloudy days!! I dont want to freak you out but its best to be safer then sorry, we all think we can rely on the drs doing things right when they are born but it doesnt always work that way

[deleted account]

I think from what I've read, walking can start anytime from 8 months to about 18months...sometimes even 2 yrs....I wouldn't worry about it.

No. Don't worry. My daughter is 16 months and just learned to walk. My doctor said that at 16 months it is time to worry. My daughter just recently started to walk/ run 4 steps into my arms but that was all. She was so worried about falling. A trick that helped her is take something clothes pins, plastic spoons, ect. and put it into there hands. as you are walking them let go. They will hold the items still in there hands with their arms up. My daughter was walking really good within about 2 days after I did that. Good luck.

Totally no... May I ask if there is a lot of furniture in your house where they are walking.. My daughter turned one and was only wallking when holding on to things but I think I might have had to much furniture for her to hold on too.. I say this because we went to go help a friend move so they did not have furniture in there house.. I sat my daughter down on the carpet and within 30 min she was just walking across the floor lol right when we got home she stopped and held on to thiings....

I have five children and none of them walked at 14 months. Anywhere between 15 and 18 months they started branching out on their own. I have been told that you can push a child to walk if you are ready for them to, but I don't personally recommend it. Encourage, sure, but let them develop at their own pace and don't worry!

Not at all!! Babies walk when they're ready & not one day sooner (much to our annoyance ;) lol ) I thought my oldest would never walk & when she was about 14 months & just let go one day & started walking!! Any day now for yours, I'll bet.
