If your children are pre school age then join a mums and tots in the area. This will get you out of the house and talking to other mums that have the same problems as you. It is really hard to be an at home mum without any support. I know I did it. I raised my sons on my own really as dad was out at work before they got up and they were asleep when he got home. My parents and his parents did not want to know and we have no other family. I was very depressed and lonely with no one to talk to. This time around I made an effort to find out what was available in my area and I joined three groups all run by different churches although I am not religious. My daughter had great fun making new friends and after a while I built some good relationships with the ladies there. I even looked forward to going!
Look in your local church and see if they do a mums and tots group, they do not push religion and it will get you out the house and make those much needed friends.
