Is it normal for a 17 year old caucasian male to be arrested routinely for narcotics?

[deleted account] ( 13 moms have responded )

I continually and continuously been finding marijuana as all affiliated paraphernalia in my home and vehicles for over a year now. I have confiscated and destroyed all of these things every time I've come across them. However that is still not deter ant enough to stop it. It has even gone so far as to be called by the police to come and get him because they pulled him over in his grandmothers car and found him stoned and with drugs. Still it does not stop. Even after the second arrest and third arrest. Last week, he did not get away with his drug usage and dealing and actually had a backpack of marijuana and paraphernalia hidden in a back of the back of my truck. When I discovered it he threw the backpack on, made a quick phone call and hopped a couple of fences to meet someone to pick him up. When he came back we had an altercation and he call the police on ME saying that I abused him. He would up being put into psychiatric care because I informed the police of his threats of suicide if I didn't mind my own business or give him his way. So, he and I are currently disputing this as being "normal" teenage behavior. While he is here reading over my shoulder, would anyone bed interested in commenting on whether this is normal teenage behavior?

Just curious, but why did you feel the need to add caucasian to your title?

I agree with the other girls. Normal to try it, and try it more than once even. It's not acceptable to keep getting arrested (or arrested even once) for it.

I'm like Krista though, and would like to know why you specified "caucasian" in your title. Seems to me like it's not "normal" behavior for ANY race of teenager.

It is normal to try it.....maybe even more than once. It is NOT normal to sell it and ALWAYS smoke it. It is normal to be disrespectful.....it is NOT normal to call the cops on your parents. Normal to get into trouble, NOT normal to get arrested.

Normal teenage behavior? Nope. Normal for a seriously troubled teenager who doesn't want to take accountability for his own crappy actions and behaviors? Yep.

He needs help and a lot more than you can give him. Personally, if someone were repeatedly bringing drugs and drug stuff into my home... I'd be calling the cops on them every single time. ONCE I'd probably confiscate and have a serious talk w/ them, but more than once.... Not happening.

Mmm no it's not normal. Many people I know as a teen didn't smoke weed at all. Trying it one time hardly counts as being a user. It's not normal to threaten suicide either to be even thinking of threatening that is a red flag to me.

Not normal, yes it's normal to experiment but unless your son has ambitions to live his life in and out of jail then he best get himself some help. There is so much more to life than this, don't waste it.

I agree pretty normal to try it but not normal to be arrested once, twice, or three times. Also not normal to go to such elaborate lengths to get your mom in trouble to save your own ass from going to jail a fourth time!

It's not normal teenage behavior to deal drugs, to get arrested repeatedly, to disrespect your parents to the point of police intervention, or to threaten suicide to manipulate another.

In the US - 40% of high school students have used marijuana. 25% of males and 20% of females use it regularly. Even fewer are dealers and regularly arrested for it, and those that are/do need to be admitted to a treatment center to end it if they can't on their own.

Haha NO! This is NOT normal behavior. It is normal for a teenager in trouble to try and make you believe it is though, but don't be fooled.
