Just this past January i got the mirena iud inserted. No problems with it until now. The past two times i have had intercourse i began to bleed a little. The bleeding stopped after intercourse. I also have missed my monthly period in April and now its may. I took a pregnancy test last week and it was negative. Could i be pregnant or is it just the iud?

I have had the iud for 3yrs lost my period completely 3 yrs ago. But everytime I have sex I bleed bad. Idk what it is. N no health insurance right now to get it checked. A little worried at this point especially sense I just saw this commercial on TV about people sueing the marina company.

I have had my IUD for 5 months, I've lost my period pretty much completely! (not complaining, it's really nice.) the only time I bleed is during sex. Even right after intercourse it stops with in minutes. I have never had a kid, don't know if that's part of the problem. But I'm single and like I'm sure all you understand that when you go to have sex with a new guy, it's usually a problem & kinda embarrassing. (condoms ALWAYS use)
I'm really worried bout it now especially after finally reading these posts. Thank god after searching the Internet for the lasts 2 hours I found out that I'm not th only one. THANK YOU ALL FOR ALL YOUR COMMENTS ON THIS SUBJECT!

I've had the mirena for a little over a year now and I've experienced some spotting after sex also and I just kinda linked it to the mirena not really sure if that's the cause or not because nothing down there has been the same since I had my son almost 2 years ago. But it makes me feel better knowing others have had the same issue. I also haven't had a period for almost a year now. My OB told me that most women usually stop getting their period within the first year an it's nothing to worry about.

I have the mirena and have spotted a couple times after having sex, but not too often. Also it's quite common not to have a period while on the mirena, I have had mine in for two years and I've only had a period about 4 times total.

Although it is POSSIBLE to become pregnant while you have an IUD, it's not generally common. The purpose of the IUD is to make the uterus too hostile for implantation. If you are experiencing pain or bleeding during intercourse, I'd suggest bringing it up with your doctor. He/she can check to make sure the IUD is still in its proper place and that you are not pregnant.
I had the Mirena and hated it. It hurt and I bled and cramped constantly, never mind when I had sex. Also, my husband could feel it and it was painful for him as well. Dark times for us, haha. A condom is much easier to deal with.

This is a hormonal thing. Periods can be infrequent or totally disappear on the Mirena IUD. If this continues then get it checked out by your doctor, but it should settle down in time.
If you have an IUD fitted you are not pregnant. The bleed after intercourse is just break through bleeding.Very annoying but quite common.
