Is it possible for a 6-year-old to have a hormonal imbalance or mood swings? My daughter will go from being a content and happy little girl to a raging, tantruming, screaming beast! I don't want to medicate her, but I have tried punishments, threats, begging and ignoring and nothing has worked. Any ideas?

Thank you Krista for your comment! I do plan to talk to her pediatrician and am going to try a few other suggestions I got. She can be such a good little girl and so sweet, and this makes me so sad!

Sure, it's possible. And it IS something you'll want to keep an eye on. My sister was very much like that. The family just brushed it off as her being "moody".

It took 20 more years before she was finally diagnosed as being manic-depressive.

I'm not saying that's the case with your daughter. BUT, I am saying to just keep your eyes open and maybe talk with her doctor to see if this behaviour IS within the bounds of what is "normal" for that age.
