I heard that when you're pregnant, you are having a boy if you gain weight just in your tummy, and a girl if you gain it all over. Is this true for you?

I've only given birth once (boy) but I gained SO much weight with him and it was all over! Of course, my eating like a pig (all healthy foods but way too much) probably had something to do with it. ;) I'm also 5'3" so there wasn't a lot of room for the weight (and him) to go.

It was kind of difficult to tell because with my first who is a boy i gained all over and with my second who is also a boy i was all belly and now that i am pregnant again it is really difficult to tell and then i am sick all the time with this baby as for with the first two the pregnancies were perfect!!

I believe every person is different, and every pregnancy is different. I was told my many, many people that they thought I was having a girl because of the way I carried my baby. Even after the ultra sound that CLEARLY showed my baby was DEFINITELY a boy, people were still trying to convince me that I was carrying a girl...it is different for everyone...I carried my son high. I have a friend who has 2 boys and she gained all around....it is so different for everyone!

I have found that to be true. Carry a girl high and in your waist, a boy low and out front so you still have a waist when viewed from behind. It isn't a weight gain thing, it is where you carry them. It has proven true on everyone I have known, we are talking about at least 65 people, regardless of how much weight or where they gained weight.

I was all tummy weight with my little girl. If you saw me from behind you would have never known I was prego until I turned around and revealed my huge belly. That's just me though!

My mom has three girls and one boy, and she said that it was true for her. When she was pregnant with my brother, she didn't gain as much weight on her hips etc, it was lower and right in front. I only have one child, a daughter, and when I was pregnant, a complete stranger came up to me and said "Are you having a girl?" I told her we didn't know and were going to be surprised, and she said "It's a girl. I can tell by the way you're carrying it up here." I thought it was all ridiculous, but she was right. Who knows?

I have been able to tell girls for a very long time if it's a boy or girl by looking at them around the 5 month....if it's a girl you can't tell from behind that the person is even pregnant ,,,but if it's a boy oh yes the hips get wider....In 20 yrs i have only been wrong once...and she had twins ....one of each...

one I carried all over. I gained in the hips, breasts, & stomach.the 3rd little girl & carried
all up front & high. Each pregnancy is different.

Everybody thought I'll have a boy, because I didn't gain much weight and my tummy was so small. Now I have a 1,5 year-old daughter. So, don't believe what people tell you that much :)

Um not sure bout that analysis. I was only told that if you carry high its a girl and low if its a boy. I have had three boys and always carried quite low making people sure that each time they saw me I had dropped more haha. I four weeks away from having my baby girl and am definately carrying high and have done throughout.

I don't think it makes any diffence, I have had 3 boys, the first high and all up front and no extra weight apart from baby, the second I gained weight everywhere adn he seemed central and the 3rd very low and all up front.

No thats an old wives tail just like if the baby sits up high its a girl . Im 36wks and Im having a girl the whole time ive lost weight and the lil bit im finally getting u cant really tell where its going the only difference in me is my belly poking out now and as far as girls sit high is a another old wives tall because throughout my whole pregnancy my lil girl has sat low on my bladder it all depends on ur body and where your baby feels like sitting

well I have been pregnant 4 times and all girls and I got fat all over with the first 3 and than the last one I was just belly, I actually lost all but 8 pounds at the time of delivery. But I was fat in the face and the arms and the thighs with the first 3 and now I am pregnant for the 5th time and I have gained 25 lbs and weigh more than I did when i delivered any of my other girl and I still have 3 months to go, but if you look at me I am all tummy and in pictures I look smaller now than I ever have (except my breast which have broken a record in bra size this round lol) I think it has a lot to do with your body structure, what you eat, how active you are but also how the baby is laying in the womb...funny thing a bout your question is I have heard the same thing as you, if it's a girls you gain weight in your face and all around and if it's a boy your all belly, well Im having another girl and my friend is having a boy and we are a week apart and I am all tummy but have gained like 25 lbs already and she is chubby all over in her hands and face and everywere and has gained the same amount of weight. I am eating all white meat chicken and vegetables and no fastfood, 3 meals a day and small snacks of fruit and granola bars inbetween thanks to the baby because everything else makes me sick and I have worked as a preschool teacher (very active work lol) the entire pregnancy, were she has eaten fastfood and anything else she wants and eats a large meal every 2 hours, and is out of work and stays home. Funny part is people keep telling her she's having a girl and the ultrasound is wrong and I get the same thing that my ultrasound is wrong and I'm having a boy, but I think honestly what it comes down to is diet excersic and body structure, and also remebering that each pregnancy is different.

Well its all the way your body carries the baby. Some women carry that way, some don't. It has nothing to do with the sex of the baby, its all how the mom's body works. And I don't need your pics to know that, thanks for offering though LOL

i've had 2 girls and both pregnancys were different to each other. with my first i had belly gain and she sat high and back which made it very easy to get back into a size 8. but with my second i gained everywhere and she sat low and out, (it looked like a basketball under my shirt), i grew 2 sizes and still cant shake the weight. it just depends on what the baby wants to do to your body. every pregnancy is different no matter what the sex.

So not true! I had a baby girl and I carried her completely in front! My hips never got wider, never had any swelling or anything. She stuck out so far in front it was so funny! Everyone swore it was a boy too.

I'm having a girl, and it's my first so I have no other pregnancy for comparison. I'm carrying high (my belly hits my boobs) and I'm 36 weeks and have gained 40 pounds but I was only 110 to begin with. I have no stretch marks on my belly but have gotten some on my hips/butt if that's any indication to where I'm gaining the weight!!!

I don't believe this. I carried my first low and I blew up like a balloon all over to the point I outgrew my already a size larger maternity clothes at 36 weeks. I used to wear pants that went over the bump as it was so low. I had a boy.
Second time I was neat as a button all over had not an ounce of weight other than bump ad my bump was extremely high. Some of the pants I wore last time wouldn't go over bump as it was so high. And I was so excited cos I was sure it was a girl but nope another boy! Love my two boys to bits though!

I had two boys and carried both of them straight out in front. I think if you go by heart rate, girls tend to have a faster heart rate around 160, and boys are closer to the 140s.

I have had one boy and one girl and carried both the same exact way... all out front... typically you will carry a baby the best way your body will allow it to or depending on how the baby "lays"... My OB confirmed with me that the way you carry has nothing to do with the sex of your child...

I have 2 of each and most of my weight gain was in my belly and "chest" areas with all 4 kids. With 3 of the 4 my arms & legs actually lost weight.
