My daughter is almost a year and she weighs probably about 30 lbs and is about 31 in Everyone (well my family have their comments) And randomn people think she is super adorable and love her chubby little cheeks. She has been chubby since birth. I am just so tired of the comments. My husband and I were also both chubby babies and my husband til highschool.

My daughter is now 6 years old weighs 29kg & is very tall im almost 162cm tall & she comes up to almost chest height when she is next to me (gonna be taller than me), people have always said she is a large child. She was born 3 weeks early & weighed 8pound 4ounces & was 55.5cm long. As soon as they start getting more active the weight will decrease & shift to the right places. People who judge babies & children as being large on the "average" guidelines need to realise that no child is average, they are all unique & 1 of a kind.

thank you sooo much again ladies!!! I will take it with a grain of salt. And keep doing what we are doing. She is healthy and growing so fast. I figure she is eating because she is hungry and growing!!!

Let that baby eat. As long as the baby is eatting healthy food and it is well balanced then she will only get the best she can out of it and help her to grow strong bones and a strong body. My daughter is 19 mo and she is already 34 inches tall and weighs about 35 pounds. She hasnt been gaining as much weight latley but she keeps getting taller on me and fast. So I feed her lots of fruits and veggies. Lots of cheese eggs and fiber cereal as well. I give as much juice, water, and soy milk (just because the soy milk seems to help her go poop better cause she eats SO MUCH food) that she wants. If she has sugar or anything of the sort its fruit snacks and I limit one per day. As far as the fam goes as long as she is healthy and nothing is wrong with her then they should consider themselves lucky and blessed.

You have have bigger things in life to worry about. As long as he's healthy that is all that matters. When anyone comments just say, "we're just glad he is healthy and happy b/c things could be worse."

Thank you so very much everyone for your kind words! It REALLY HELPS to know other moms out there have and are going through the same things. And to have that encouragement instead of just negativity! Thank you so very much!

Dont worry about it if her height is in proportion to her weight , my son has always been bigger than average in fact way above the 100 percentile he is 13 and a half kilos and 86 cm and he just turned one , his body is all proportional and the midwife says he is just going to be a very tall boy ( which runs in the family ) , i wouldnt worry too much and remember babies need a little extra padding to burn off once they get moving more too .

dont worry bout what anyone other then your babys pediatrician says. if they worry bout the babys size then you may have concerns however if they havent said anything your doing just fine an all the rest need to mind their own business since they dont have medical degrees to advize you on

According to world health organization growth charts she is very big, actually she is off the chart. (30 pounds is 13.6 kilos)

But so long as she is healthy, I dont see why there is anything wrong, if your dr is happy with her then that's what matters. Tell other people to mind their own.

My brother was 30 lbs at a year. I have friends who's babies are 9 months old and 26-28 lbs. I would not worry honey...your doctow would tell you if there was a problem. And by the way my brother is not over weight by any means and he is 20 years old not. She will lose it now that she is walking or will be walking and it will come off or stay the same for awhile! Hope this helps!

who cares what anyone thinks! as long as her doc says she is doing fine i wouldn't worry... my son is small for his age.. people say things and it used to bother me but i don't care what they say anymore.. the doc says that he is doing great and i think he is perfect. don't worry about anyone else just enjoy your lil one:)

Just try not to let them bother you.. My son was 31lbs at a year and he was 29in tall so short and round.. I was always hearing some things that are kind of hurtful and then i would take him som where and som of the older and younger ladies would have to stop just to talk to him and tell him how cute he was.. My hubby was a big boy.. ( still is a bigger guy..)

Unless your pediatrician has concerns about her weight I would say no, she isn't too big. My daughter is a little underweight for her age and has been since she started running around, but her father is about 20 pounds underweight and has been his whole life. I think sometimes we have to consider genetics when looking at our kids. As for anyone who comments on it in a negative way I'd just say that your pediatrician says she is doing wonderfully well so you don't see a problem with her weight. (BTW my daughter was 9 pounds 1 ounce at birth and was baby chubby until she started walking more, then it just seemed to go the other way, so it's quite possible your daughter will do the same thing as she becomes more active).

No she's not too big. At my son's one year checkup he was 27 pounds, 33 inches long (off the charts for height, aprox. 97th percentile for his weight). He was 9lbs 2oz and 21 1/4 inches long when he was born. Some babies are just a little bigger and continue being bigger than "average", that's all. She sounds perfectly healthy to me! As long as you're not overfeeding her and she's developing just fine, then there's no need to worry. As far as your family's comments.. I would tell them there is nothing wrong with her, she is healthy and doing fine and to please stop commenting about her height/weight. Don't worry about their comments.. They're probably just jealous anyway :)
