Is my little man self weaning?

My little guy is almost 6 months and lately he's been not wanting to be breastfeed. Everytime I try he will suck for maybe at the most 2 - 3 min then get real fussy and cry and not want it at all. But he is still hungry and so I give him the bottle and he takes it and he even likes to hold it himself. This is the first time he's ever been given any bottle. I try to offer him the breast first but he never really wants it now. :'( I'm pretty sure he is self weaning, but I just wanted to ask here. Thanks

Hi Megan, are you making enough breastmilk? maybe he isn't getting enough of your milk. Well try expressing milk for him so he is getting the norishment he needs,also c your doc and ask him,he might check him over (mouth and throat). Not to worry,i know it is frustraiting.

He is self weaning. I know this from experience of having almost five month old twins my daughters would do the same thing. Is the bottle breast milk or formula? If formula your bodies milk supply  may be dwindling( nothing you did on your part) so don't feel bad about it. My twins were 5 lbs each at birth and would drink the 1-2 oz and stop. They started losing weight then offered bottle to see how much they woul drink not much breast milk, then I did formula and they drank more.  They doubled their feeding s with formula.If he is drinking from the bottle breast milk he is self weaning and may just be a independent child my older child did this. Nothing wrong with either situation . If he is eating and happy that is all that matters......
