eat yogurt yogurt yogurt... also spread the yogurt on your nipples when you have time to sit shirtless. i'm so sorry :( thrush is so painful! my son gets it when he's on antibiotics and it breaks my heart.

Get gentian violet. Forewarning it will stain everything it touches purple. It is the bet stuff in the world. I have used it on both my kids, when my son to a yeast infection and I use it when I get scrapes and cuts because I'm allergic to something in neosporin. I love this stuff. It is the bet in he world.

My Mother (who was a registered nurse) taught me the way to keep thrush from ever happening. Keep 2 glass jars near wherever it is that you sit to breastfeed. The kind of jar used to store food with an airtight lid.

Fill both jars with 100% cotton balls. Fill one with filtered water over the balls and the second with alcohol over the balls. Just enough of the liquids to come to the top of the balls. The liquids will soak into the balls of cotton.

Before feeding wash each nipple first with an alcohol soaked cotton ball and then wipe with a watr soaked cotton ball.

Do this each and every time you breastfeed and the problem should stop.

If you are in a relationship, your partner probably should be treated also since this is going on and on. Have you had a complete blood work-up ? Have they cultured the 'thrush' to be sure that is what it is ?

With my second child the doctor had me treat with gention violet, sorry if the spelling is off. I found it near the natural oil extracts. use q-tip and apply to baby's mouth and, nipples once a day for two days, We had to deal with purple nipples and mouth for a week but it never came back.

I had the same problem with thrush and no matter how many antibiotics were prescribed to him or myself it always came back. Try Gentian Violet. You'll have to call around alot to find out who carries it in your area, alot of drug stores don't anymore but I swear it was the best $10 I ever spent! It's the "Old School" all natural home remedy. It will turn her mouth purple and it stains everything so be careful. You may have to thin it out with some water and get a q-tip and paint the inside of her mouth all over. Don't use too much because you want her to swallow as little as possible. You can also paint your nipples but be sure to use disposable pads. Do it for a week. I did this twice and we have not had a problem with thrush since.





I sterilized everything, washed everything ate the yogurt took the meds (2 different kinds!) None of that stuff works! The shield can only block so much of the pain. Just get the Gentian Violet, trust me:)

The grape seed extract (orally & topically) works great! Cutting down on the sugar/refined carbs will really help & both of you take acidophillis tablets/powder. I used to put the acidophillis powder on my nipple right before breastfeeding. It worked wonders after dozens of "violet" treatments & anti-fungal pills that just didn't work! Good luck!

also see your doctor to check you don't have diabetes, as too much sugar in your blood can lead to recurrent thrush.

eat the good yoghurt, not the colored sugar shock kind! I had sucess with acidophillis capsules from the health food store, you can open them and give to your daughter, too. I have used for all 4 of my kids, and it helps digestion too! You might want to cut back on sugar in your diet- I get a lot of yeast symptoms when I have been eating too much sugar. but definately go back to your doctor and make sure it isn't something other than yeast! good luck!

Try washing grapefruit seed extract. Continue to do this until ur done breastfeeding. I keep a bottle in the shower, I use it on babies hands and feet too.

i agree with kate, try pumping and feeding, and also try a different anti fungal. Failing that see your doctor as it might be a bacterial infection that needs antibiotics, or a skin condition.

When this happened to myself and daughter I was told to treat myself both on nipples and down stairs( even though I didnt have it down there) and also treat her mouth. I used this gel which you had to rub all in her mouth and try not to give her any fluids for at least 30min so it could sit in there, I also used to put canestin cream on my nipples and then before I would feed wash it off and put some of the gel on. We have to do this for 7 days after the signs were gone. This was why it keep coming back, I would stop when the signs were gone.

Have you been using a nipple shield? I know that really helped my hubby's cousin when that happened. When you say orally what are you doing with it? Are you putting it on a q tip and rubbing it all over the inside of the mouth like they usually tell you to? and are you continuing the meds for several days after the infection clears up? One thing i've found is that the q tip method takes FOREVER. The pharmacist told me to just rub the coated dropper on the inside of her mouth and the infection was gone in a week. Odd as it may sound, also try canesten for your nipples instead. I found it worked better, you just have to put it on after every feed instead of whenever you feel like it. Good luck!

Eat more yogurt! Also, it may be a good idea to pump and feed her so you can both clear up the infection and not keep passing it back and forth.
