sometimes by baby get's hiccups that can carry on for almost an hour... ecspecially when it's bed time... it's like she's happy when she gets it so that she can stay up longer... i try give her water to drink and her milk and even give her her dummy to suck but at times it really feels like it takes forever to stop....maybe it's because i'm lying there next to her waiting for that last hiccup... it drives me crazy that i even start counting the intervals...hahahahaha :)

There's also a tissue salt (not sure which number) that's for hiccups. I've not tried it yet but am off to buy some cos my baby also suffers terrible with hiccups.

Breastfeeding always seems to get rid of Tristan's hiccups, That was the nurse's suggestion when we were still in the hospital, and it worked, so that's what we do.

Gripe water works great. But get the non-alcoholic version. It works just as well without alcohol.

You can't scare hic cups out of a baby like you can an older child or an adult. I tried it and didn't get much reaction at all, maybe i'm just not scary!

The only thing I find stops my almost 3 month olds hiccups is feeding him more (he is breast fed) works straight away every time.

well I've never tried it on very little one's, but for toddlers and adults this works like a charm. You get a cup full of water. The person with the hiccups drinks it without stopping (as best they can), a second person covers the person with the hiccups ears tightly, almost squeezing their head. I don't know why but it works everytime. If your alone. A cup with a straw works just fine as well. Hope this helps.

I agree on the gripe water, the pacifier and I also alot of times had to lay my little one down, and rub his tummy softly in circles or up and down to relax him. Good thing is that my doctor said that hiccups don't hurt babies like they do older kids, but can be annoying so any kind of distraction or soothing should work.

This natural remedy worked the other day for my son. He pressed the soft spot right behind both ear lobes with his forefingers, and in a minute or so the hiccups went away. I had one of my students try this also, and it worked for him, too! My book says,

"Hold for 60 sec. or as time allows between hiccups, and repeat until the hiccups stop."

gripe water is great! but I don't use the full dose recommended. I start off with a smaller amount & if it doesn't work I move to the full dose but most the time 1/4 or 1/2 the dose works best

Have you tried Gripe water, it settles the stomach and helps get rid of extra air pockets. Also, I've used chamoille tea, just warm.

Ooops I was going to tell you to use a spoon of sugar but then I read baby. Not sure how old your baby is. I know that a spoon of sugar works but your baby would have to be old enough to take it. So I guess I am useless. Sorry :(

my daughter gets he hiccups all the time, I try to get her mind off them (she is only 3 months) I do 1 of 2 things put her back to the breast and get her to eat a bit more and rub her head and say just relax baby girl, they usually go away in about 5 min or so, or get her to smile, by playing with her with bright colors or her favorite toy ect.

Hope this helps.

water is the best... if hiccups persist try water with little sugar (only if you have introduced sugar to her that is). Otherwise, don't worry the hiccups will go. Avoid giving her solids at this time.
