Friday he came down with the virus he only threw up 2 times and after that we put him on the pedialite for 24 hours and sat. he started to have very runny smelly bowels they smell like vinager.I was wondering if this was normal or common or do i need to carry him to his doctor we called about the loose stool and they said to put him on a bland diet so we are giving him oatmeal mixed with applesause.

Currently going through the same virus with my 11 month old, as long as he is taking in enough liquids to continue to have wet diapers I would not run to the dr's office.  With the little ones the diarhea can last for a week or so, we are on day 5 - just get yourself a good odor killing spray :)  Pedialyte is great if you can get him to drink it.

Rotavirus poo has a very unique smell...if diarrhea persists, I'd see the doc (again, if necessary). I thought this was no big deal at first (the smell), but then my daughter ended up in Children's Hospital for a week. Just be careful :)

My son had the same problem a couple times when he was about that age.  Not too much they can do for a virus.  It will run it's course.  My son's diapers were very strong smelling, almost stinging your nostriles with a vinegar like smell.  If it is the same it went away after a few days.  Good luck.

I have a 5 month old and most of his bowel movements smell like vinegar. It gets worse when he has had pedialite. I wouldn't worry too much about it.
