I am suppose to have my Mirena IUD removed this month but with no insurence and a husband on unemployment, (he was laid off) I can't find a doctor that will remove it. How long can it stay in there without complications. I've had it 5 years this month. I'm applying for some medical aid from the goverment, but it might be 45 days before I even hear anything from them.

After 5 years it stops protecting you from pregnancy. So as of now you need an alternate form of birth control.

If you see this, leave this form field blank.

This is a question for a doctor. I could give you my thoughts on it, but if they're wrong then it won't help you one bit. I'm inclined to think that 45 days isn't going to do harm to your body, but I could be wrong and so my real advice to you is to talk to a doctor about it so that you have a professional opinion.
