My daughter is nearly 6 months old and I boil up all of her fruit to puree, would the juices that are in the boiled water from the apple & pear be ok give to her in a sippy cup?? I know as a baby & child I had a very bad reaction to juice & so far she has been exactly like me in that way so I'm just wondering instead of wasting the "juices" could I freeze them in ice-block cups & give them to her??

I know I don't want to give her the juice you buy even baby juice because of all the sugar & crap plus I have seen other toddlers on it & know I don't want her to be like that & hypo & throw a tantrum when she can't have it.

You can give her the cooking juice, the cooking juice from vegies is also good. I cant remember whether the sugar comes out of the fruit into the boiled water though, I steam my babies fruit and some of the juices from the fruit drip down into the water so I give it to him as a drink. I just taste it and water it down if it tastes a bit sweet. I put blueberries in his fruit last time and the water came out tasting like blueberry and he really liked it.

Hi Meagan

I would think that if you are boiling just the fruit and not adding any sugar it should be fine to keep the juice for her to drink. If you are finding that she has a reaction to it perhaps you should try diluting it in water 50/50 to start and see how she goes.

If it were me , I would try it and see how she does with it. If she isn't able to handle it yet, Yes you can freeze them , just make sure you double them in freezer bags to keep them fresh longer and date them. I made applesauce once when Ali was about 7 months old and she loved the juice I drained out once it was cooked about 1/2 way down. I don't make it with sugars or anything either, just cook down the apples.
