Kris has diaper rash! any ideas on how to get ride of it?

wow thats a whole lot of sugestions, try to give your baby or todler a few hrs a day nappy free time this will prevent it getting worse and will help it get better, you could try a diferend moe absorbent nappy like huggies to draw the moisture away from skin, regular baths but no soap as it can irritate so can some creams,. good luck.

My son was allergic to zinc based diaper rash creams. I used bag balm on recommendation from a country woman. It's in a green tin and you can get it in the pet area at walmart. NOTHING has ever worked as well as that stuff.

Corn Starch is good and I am a Mary Kay Consultant and have used our Extra Emollient Night Creme for everything including diaper rash. It works great!

this is way back , and i also used it on my kids and i have six, brown some flour lightly let ti cool off and sprinkle it on the baby bottom every time you change and it will dry it right up in a few day work wonderful.

Desitin has worked best for me. Try a warm cloth when changing. The wipes have something in them that makes it sting.

my son's doctor said to let him go without a diaper some...a little air will help! and she also said to give him warm baths....i use desitin and bordeaux's butt paste...they both work for my son!

The only thing that will work is cornstarch, I would not use cream it leave it damp, a rash has to dry out I have 3 boys and when a diaper rash appeared that was the only thing I used and the next day it was gone. Even when they had a little redness under the arms or anywhere on the body cornstarch was my only thing that went on thier little body. Amazing how it works.

Try browning some flour and use that instead of powder ( I used it with the medicated powder). This has worked GREAT on both my boys. I also would use some Lotimen Ultra (Equate, WalMarts generic version is good) twice a day as well!

if it's really bad and looks like little red pimples, and won't go away it could be a yeast infection which won't be helped by regular creams. your dr. would have to diagnose it, but if it is use anti fungal cream like lotrimin. regular diaper rash i love BUTT PASTE!

I always used desitin and it is the best thing you can use. You need to be careful to use a pad when using it because it is so thick. But it is good that it is thick because it will sooth and prevent the burning or stinging that the diaper rash causes. I always had a good supply on hand and my children never had any problems. Trust me nothing works like it. Poor little guy he has to be so uncomfortable and in pain.

The thing that help me was Aeeveno oatmeal bath and let him soak and play. Then you need to get a cream with the most Zinc in it. That cures it the fastest. I don't know where you are...but here in Fl. they get them a lot and the Dr. says to always put a thin layer of cream on them everyday...I hope this helps.

use desatin it works the best, also try a oatmeal bath that will help dry it out and. but most of all talk to your baby's pedatrician first

I dont know if anyone has posted this yet, but my dr. gave me the formula for magic butt cream and has worked wonders..... its 2:2:1 two parts desitin, two parts antifungal cream like lotromin (I use the generic walmart kind. I can make a big batch of this for under $8) and one part peppermint flavored Maalox. GOOD LUCK!

The Dr. told me to use Liquid Maalox(cool mint) and baby powder and mix to a paste. Works wonders. My son always got yeast infections and this clears it over night. I tell everyone and they all use it cause it works.

my old doctor told me 2 buy a box of robins hot water starch powder mix it with calamine lotion into a paste and apply,by the mornin nappy rash had gone and u can use again as it goes hard in the dish or whatever u made it in by just gettin a warm damp piece of cotton wool and just wipin over the top

Put a little vinegar in the bath water. It helps sooth it and get rid of it. Also, try using wet cloths instead of wipes until it clears up due to the alcohol in the wipes stinging and making it redder.

another option is to switch to cloth diapers at least til it clears up. u may have to change it more often then a disposable but it could help

u should take him to the doctor if its that painful for him. my son had one so bad it bled so i took him to doctor. they prescribed him an ointment that worked wonders. i dont remember the name of it tho. but u should really take him in. good luck

There are many great suggestions before me that I'm sure you have already found a successful remedy... but I thought I'd post a note to help out in the future...

"Candida albicans" or Yeast...is a fungus that grows naturally and harmlessly in the intestines, if the balance is upset it results in an infection and often causes a sudden rash on babies buttoms.

Yeast thrives in moist an heat... keep the diaper loose or off, fold up a paper fan to air dry the bottom well. ( I used a blow dryer with a cool or low low heat settng, my son thought it was hysterical, just don't frighten the baby with it the first time!)

Starch is the perfect medium for growing fungus... avoid the powders or cornstarch until well healed.

1-2 tablespoons of vinegar in a warm baby bath will help restore pH levels, just soak the bottom.

Pat to dry, don't rub!

If you do use cotton diapers, a quick hot ironing of the groin area after laundering will be sure to kill off the candida. avoid bleach and use unscented soap. Skip the fabric softener and use a vinegar rinse in it's place.

Rinse the skin with plain water and a soft cloth, you'll always have laundry to do anyways so save on the expense of wasteful wipes... it's better for baby too!

50% of rashes go away within a day, the other 50? well...up to 10 days.

Fact: When urine and feces mix in the diaper area the result is high pH level that irritates the skin. If an older infant continues to have problems, 2-3 ounces of cranberry juice (not punch) will leave a acidic residue in the urine helping to lower the pH and reduce irritation when rashes appear.

A dry diaper, clean really good with wipe and apply aquaphor. Cleans up fast. Aquaphor also ood rfor rashes caused by heat or drool

when my jamie was a young baby she to had bad nappy rash,a very wise lady called ivy my mates nan said best thing for it was the white of a egg i kid u not just crack a egg remove the yolk and just smack it all over i couldent belive in just a couple of days it had cleared up after wasting good money on crap creams if you do use it let me no ok pls i think ur be shocked . zowie xxxx

To provide quick relief, I would suggest using hydrocortizone. Use it sparingly, up to three changes a day, and you will see the blisters and redness start to disappear. After that, make use of a good barrier cream, such a Desitin etc. My daughter had terrible diaper rash that no amount of bum time could clear up. You can buy, over the counter, a .5% hydrocortizone . . . doctor's can prescribe a 1% but it is cheaper and faster just to buy the over the counter stuff. Good luck, it is so hard to watch them be in such pain.

AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ALLL THESE EXPENSIVE CREAMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it ,may not be a diaper rash! it may be a yeast infection! now I know most people accomidate a yeast infection with a girl but believe it or not it can happen with a boy too so this works for both boy's and girls! your best bet is when he has a bad rash... QUIT USING WIPES! the alcahol in it makes it burn worse! take a warm soapy wash cloth and wipe his butt with that! then take some aloe vera and put a thin layer over it! (natural and does not contain any alcahol) change his diaper more often and also take a tablespoon of baking powder (the one that you cook with) and put it into his bath and let him sit in it and play and in no time it will be gone! powders and heavy cream actually trap in the heat and cause the burning to worsen and the powdeers trap in moisture so your baby will keep the rash longer! My daughter got rashes all the time both yeast and regular rashes to the point that they would blister up and blead and I was using the creams on her! once i used this meathod she was fine and w/in a day she was cleared up! I also used this on my son that's how I know it works for both genders! Think of a diaper rash as a sun burn or even a burn that you got while cooking! cool water eases the pain and you NEVER WANT TO PUT BUTTER OR A HEAVY CREAM ON IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! learned this in nursing school. And if your baby is over the age of 1 give them a go gurt or regular yogurt! there is something in yogurt that kills the yeast! but don't self diagnose and self treat! if you are using the creams and your baby still has a bad diaper rash after 5 days take your baby to see his Dr. he may give you a Rx. that is used speciffically for a yeast infection!

both the desitin overnight and corn starch are good however u may want to check with ur peditricion...some times a funky fungal infection will accur and they need a litlle extra prescript cream

once it is gone, I use a moist jell to keep it from coming back. When the diaper gets wet and if the skin is dry then it affects the skin. You have alot of good advice below. Hope all goes well

The other one I was going to reply to was locked...There IS one other thing which is what my situation was. One of my sons was born and he started out with a rash, I tried all the ointments and creams, you name it I used it! My son was ALLERGIC to diapers so I had to use the cloth daipers for awhile..........

Emulsifying ointment and talcum powder works wonders. Used it with both my children and no problems the emulsifyer will work as a water proof type aswell. very cheap aswell
