labor contractions..or braxton hicks?

i keep having this cramping feeling at the bottom of my stomach.it feels like period cramps and my stomach get hard as rock.im just about 39 weeks.i havent been keeping track of them but they are really uncomfortable.and it feels like it pushes the baby into my ribs.like his butt..can anyone help?

COuld be a false alarm. I cried when I had branston hicks but laughed when in labour. You will know when your in labour. Have you had a show yet? (Light pink dischard on your undies) And is this your first? If it is, then you could be in false labour. Phone your midwife/doctor and double check. Just to make sure.

I'm not a doctor but as far as i know braxton hicks will not be coming at regular intervals and will not get closer together. True labor will have contractions coming regularly and get closer together.

If in doubt call the hospital or midwifes that will be assisting you in the birth.
