No, when your water breaks it doesn't hurt if it happens on it's own but it can be uncomfortable (not hurt, but strange) if they break it in the hospital for you.
Labour and contractions can be hard, depends on your pain tolerance and how you approach it.

I have to say yes. For me, I had to be induced with both of my children and when they broke my water with my son it was very uncomfortable, however, with my daughter, I wanted to cry it hurt so bad. Id say it really depends on when it breaks tho. I'd imagine naturally you'd have no pain but when a doctor does it I believe you hurt because they're inserting something that looks like a crochet hook into you to puncture the bag of fluid and your cervix is already very sore and in pain from dialating.

braking of the water doesnt hurt but the contractions do lol. when i had my daughter i woke up inthe middle of the night cuz i was having a dream i need to pee so i jumped out of bed quickly and ran to the bathroom and as soon as i stepped into the bathroom my water broke! i was half asleep and totally thought for a second thati just peed myself lol but that wasnt it haha. i didnt even start feeling contracts for at least a hour after my water broke.

water breaking didn't hurt. felt/heard odd pop. Not painful or even uncomfortable. Just pop and then liquid :) Mine broke on its own though. I've heard it does hurt to have it done - ruptured/broken/swept membranes kind of thing. But I've had three kids and it didn't hurt any of the times. Labor wasn't even that bad to me. Crowning and pushing heads out..that was a different story, but i did it without meds! lol
