Lifting my almost one year old with a baby one the way

in general you can keep doing during your pregnancy what you are used to... like if you do lots of sports you can continue doing sports during your pregnancy, but if you never did much exercise you shouldn't start climbing rocks during your pregnancy ;-) lifting up a one year old is fine if you have a normal pregnancy. your body will tell you if its to much.

Relax! A woman's body is designed in such a way to let us be active while pregnant. I actually was 8 weeks pregnant (didn't know at the time!) and spent 10 days backpacking in the Rockies! Talk about lifting heavy weight and stressful excercise! I often think that vigorous excercise early on in my pregnancy is what helped me have a healthy, easy pregnancy. So don't worry!

With that said, if you have any health conditions or concerns about lifting, then consult with your doctor or an OB/GYN. A doctor will be able to answer your questions about all things pregnancy related. Hope this helps and congratulations!

im pregnant and i pick my 2 year up all the time, it hasnt affected my pregnancy at all, just cant carry her for as long as she wants sometimes cause i get tired more quicker!!!

Nope my two are only 18mo's apart and I carried lifted him and his carseat, diaper bags it was fine AS LONG as it is a normal healthy pregnancy.

No, it's not going to hurt you or the baby to lift your oldest child. Shoot, I carried a 2 year old in backpack when I was pregnant with #3.

I was told that if it started to really bother me to stop lifting up my child. I lifted up my oldest while pregnant with my middle son until he was born. Last year I carried my middle son up until my youngest was born (never realized how heavy he was until after my youngest was born) and I would also pick up my oldest while pregnant too. Now I'm due with my forth child and I still carry my youngest and pick up my other two once in a while. My kids are 3 yrs, 2yrs, and 8 months old. As long as your not having problems in your pregnancy u should be fine! Congrats.

I'm six months pregnant and I pick up my 2.5 year old all the time. She's about 27 lbs. Just be sure you are using your leg muscles and not straining your back when you pick him up.

I have a 4 year old and a 2 year old and am 35 weeks pregnant with our third. I've carried them both at time because there was no choice. When you're pregnant, you're not supposed to add any new activities but your body is already used to carrying around your first so you're fine. My doctor always tells me that now is not the time to take up horseback riding.

We have a 13mth old and I'm 21wks pregnant. I just listen to my body and if I start to ache around the back or tummy area then hubby takes over with the carrying. I find I'm often carrying him over my belly at the front quite a bit too as it seems to be the most comfy.

No. If something is going to happen in the first 12 weeks, it will happen regardless. Your uterus is very strong.

Im 16 weeks pregnant work at walmart lifting heavy things all the time come home and still carry my 16 month old even though he walks he just got new winter boots and is afraid to walk in them

I'm almost 31 weeks with my second and I carry my 35 pound 2 year old all the time without a problem. The only thing I was told was to be careful of holding him on my hip (as most moms do) because the extra extra weight can throw your lower back and hips out of alignment and cause further pain at the end of the day. So what I do is just carry him in front of me so that he straddles my belly lol
You should be more than fine carrying your son unless of course your doctor gives you a reason not to (complications/possible miscarriage)

I heard that there is nothing wrong with carefully lifting your child while pregnant. And they jokingly say, that if you are looking for reasons not to hold your child, you better think of a better reason.

I carried my 4 year old all through my entire pregnancy and never had a problem. I also work as a retail manager, lifted boxes, climbed ladders and was on my feet 9 hours a day for my entire pregnancy with both kids. Both children are perfectly fine and I had a very easy labor and delivery!
