The things i couldn;t live without were the baby swing and like the kick and play ( the babes lay down on this thing that bounces or you can bounce it yourself) also a white noise maker...i had a bear but i heard the SLeep SHeep is the best, also a wipe warmer does wonders. But likethe mommies said before don't buy anything before your shower but those are things u can put on ur registry

Quoting Beth:

Check out babycenter.com. They can anser almost ANY question. From diaper rash to teething to when they should be eating solids to when they should start walking and talking and everything in between. They even go up to the teenage years. It's an awesome site and they'll send you weekly emails while you're pregnant on the growth progress of you unborn child. It's litterally the GREATEST site since slice bread. I hope you like it as much as I did and still do. (my daughter turns 2 next month)

I second the recommendation for babycenter.com.  I loved the e-mails telling me how my baby was growing while I was pregnant.  My husband thought it was funny that they always compared the sizes to some type of food, like "Your baby is the size of a banana now."  I was always calling my husband in to tell him that our baby now had eyelids or some other amazing thing like that.  And all the articles are really great, too.

crib, diapers, clothes, blankest, wipes, baby shampoo, stroller, breast pump or bottles whichever way your going. Go online and ask your friends shope around you dont have to get everything right away i would have a baby shower first and then get what you still need.

I agree with the don't buy before your shower, but only if you're sure your shower is scheduled early enough! I was waiting until after my shower to buy most things, and my son ended up coming a week before my shower was planned (he was almost a month early). We didn't have anything when we got home! Luckily, my mom had bought the carseat; she was going to give it to me at the shower but had already bought it and had it at her house, so my husband was able to pick it up before we took baby home. And we had some good friends who at least got some clean sheets on the crib for us. Besides that, we had to get by on the free hospital stuff until my husband went to the store and spent a lot of money. =)

So from that experience, necessities that you should make sure you have early: diapers, wipes, bottles, nipple/bottle brush, formula (even if you plan to breastfeed, my son had jaundice and we had to supplement with formula, and because he was early he had a little more trouble learning to breastfeed), lots of burp cloths and receiving blankets, newborn clothes, crib or bassinet, sheets, baby laundry detergent, carseat, nursing bra and pads for you, quick meal ideas in the freezer.

Good luck!

DONT BUY ANYTHING untill your have your shower!!! After that go through and decide if you will bottle feed. Then I say have at least 9 6oz bottles and aroung 2 months have at least 3 more 8-9oz bottles. at least 100 or so newborn diapers, 5 newborn outfits, carseat before you go to hospital (duh)lol, if your nursing u will need nursing bras, nursing pads reguardless... If you have questions about something in particular feel free to contact me. Also there is a chapter on what to bring to the hospital and what to have for the baby before they arrive in What to expect When expecting.

My advice is to hold onto your receipts (and fight the desire to take everything out of the packages and rip off tags! haha!) I'm sure a lot of moms will agree that they bought way too much stuff...and things that looked good but they didn't end up using! The problem is that it's impossible to know what you will like and use- the same things that some moms swear by others find completely useless!

Ok, I feel like I'm ruining all the fun of being pregnant!!! I'm sorry...but please notice that I didn't say "don't buy lots"...I just said keep the receipts! haha! Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy! Congratulations! :~D
