we don't need to wash in anything to be clean and I would rather pay top bucks to know my kids are healthy, I don't even put anything on myself but organic coconut oil so chemicals don't leach into my breast milk.

Obviosly there are lots of harmful chemicals in everything we use touch daily but if i know and its easy to avoid or elimate how many things i or my family have in contact then we avoid as my freind warned me im being helpful with info to those who worry and appriacoate such info ... i expect to hear negative feedback and those who love to argue

its fine thank you for your info but i already know risks hazords are all around us in our food every thing we touch lol but like i said if it can be easily avoided then thats what i do

Here is more information on formaldehyde

When formaldehyde is present in the air at levels exceeding 0.1 ppm, some individuals may experience adverse effects such as watery eyes; burning sensations in the eyes, nose, and throat; coughing; wheezing; nausea; and skin irritation. Some people are very sensitive to formaldehyde, whereas others have no reaction to the same level of exposure.

Do you or your children have these reactions when you wash your body or hair?

Since the 1980s, the National Cancer Institute (NCI), a component of the National Institutes of Health, has conducted studies to determine whether there is an association between occupational exposure to formaldehyde and an increase in the risk of cancer.

Several NCI surveys of professionals who are potentially exposed to formaldehyde in their work, such as anatomists and embalmers, have suggested that these individuals are at an increased risk of leukemia and brain cancer compared with the general population. An NCI case-control study among funeral industry workers that characterized exposure to formaldehyde also found an association between increasing formaldehyde exposure and mortality from myeloid leukemia (3). For this study, carried out among funeral industry workers who had died between 1960 and 1986, researchers compared those who had died from hematopoietic and lymphatic cancers and brain tumors with those who died from other causes. (Hematopoietic or hematologic cancers such as leukemia develop in the blood or bone marrow. Lymphatic cancers develop in the tissues and organs that produce, store, and carry white blood cells that fight infections and other diseases.) This analysis showed that those who had performed the most embalming and those with the highest estimated formaldehyde exposure had the greatest risk of myeloid leukemia. There was no association with other cancers of the hematopoietic and lymphatic systems or with brain cancer.

Earlier analysis of the NCI cohort found increased lung cancer deaths among industrial workers compared with the general U.S. population. However, the rate of lung cancer deaths did not increase with higher levels of formaldehyde exposure. This observation led the researchers to conclude that factors other than formaldehyde exposure might have caused the increased deaths. The most recent data on lung cancer from the cohort study did not find any relationship between formaldehyde exposure and lung cancer mortality.



Formaldehyde undergoes rapid chemical changes immediately after absorption. Therefore, some scientists think that formaldehyde is unlikely to have effects at sites other than the upper respiratory tract. However, some laboratory studies suggest that formaldehyde may affect the lymphatic and hematopoietic systems. Based on both the epidemiologic data from cohort and case-control studies and the experimental data from laboratory research, NCI investigators have concluded that exposure to formaldehyde MAY cause leukemia, particularly myeloid leukemia, in humans.

formaldehyde - is also found in your furniture, sub floors, most of your home is made with formaldehyde, household cleaners, adult shampoos, automobile tailpipe emissions, gas stoves, oil burning stoves, nail polish, make up, glues, paints, fabrics crease-resistant, carpeting, sandpaper, facial tissue, table napkins, paper towels, photography, kitchen cabinets, wood floorings, applied topically in medicine to dry the skin, such as in the treatment of warts. Your own body NATURALLY produces formaldehyde as part of normal metabolic processes.



Of course this doesn’t make formaldehyde safe, but those cancer studies were done on people who work with formaldehyde daily, in liquid or gas form, be it people embalming bodies, or workers dealing with resin.



Lets not start a new "anti anything movement" without all the facts.

Once damage is done it cant be reversed - be proactive! My little sister is suffering all kinds of medical problems from this stuff!

Every product has to have a preservative to give the product a shelf live. Check out quaternium 15. It's a formaldehyde releaser the can cause allergies, skin problems, even cancer. Melaleuca's products have the finest tea tree oil from New South Wales, Australia. It was our company that actually brought tea tree oil to the U.S. It heals, penetrates, and disinfects. It is also the preservative in their products. I would not trust any other company out there for my family. I also would never compromise my children's health for cheaper products. These companies do not care what they are doing to us. It denfinitely is about the almight dollar. My daughter's allergies and hearing problems are gone :) She was so sick all of the time and wasn't able to hear in school. She was not reading by the end of the first grade. I couldn't get any answers from doctors. As a mom, I was ripping out my hair trying to find answers. My psorasis is gone. So true, good for you for putting it out there. There's also silicone and sodium chloride that affect the nervous system. I use a shampoo/conditioner from a company called " Kiss my face", I find it at our local grocery store. It's certified organic and doesn't have any of the toxic stuff in it.

Commercial household cleaners too ladies. Anything with "Sol" in it: Lysol, Pine sol ect all affect your nervous system. My son has Aspergers and when we switched everything over we did notice a difference.

yes and it also contains mineral oil which is the second leading cause of aging second to the sun and also a carcinogen by the world health organization . It is basically like wrapping your child in saran wrap to where nothing good is being absorbed or no bad toxins can be eliminated. Its an occlusive oil and can be found in many of adult men and women products!! I learned that through the company I am with. If you would like to know more just message me. This blew my mind!! I had no clue and did not think ingredients mattered!

Quaternium-15 is an allergen, and can cause contact dermatitis in susceptible individuals.[1] Many of those with an allergy to quaternium-15 are also allergic to formaldehyde. Allergic sensitivity to quaternium-15 can be detected using a patch test.[2] It is the single most often found caue of allergic contact dermatitis of the hands (16.5% in 959 cases)[3]

I don't know if thats whats causing her rash all over her skin but I've tried everything else and it's continuing to spread. I think, from what I've read, that it's more of an allergy type deal. Some are allergic, some are not. They don't pull peanut butter off the shelves because some are allergic, right? They have in fact pulled all of the Huggies baby wash off the shelves though. I don't know if thats why but they have. I am calling her doc today to see if he's heard of this and see what he says.

I think it is a crock. I used huggies and Johnson on all my kids they are all fine and I think if it was truly harmful it would be all over the news, getting pulled from shelves etc.

I recommend Dove Sensitive Skin Unscented bar soap. I have been using this with my daughter since she was born (the washes were too drying on her skin). In fact, I have switched to Dove myself, I love it so much!

If it is really that bad don't you think heaps of people would be complaining about their child having skin problems??? Johnson has been around for years...it hasn't caused any irritation on my daughters skin and she has very sensitive skin...if it was really that bad it would have been banned.

I Cannot THANK -YOU Enough!!! You just helped me figure out what is going on with my daughters skin!!

She is 15mo and I have taken her to her pedi twice and a dermatologist last week because she has the weird rash that's spreading and the Cortizone is not working. Nobody can identify what is causing it or even what it is.

I read this link and BINGO! The bumps look exactly like that AND I have been using the Huggies wash and lotion. She has sensitive skin so I've been using the Hypoallergenic Huggies Baby wash. Funny thing is, I have notice that they have stopped selling and it happens that I found ONE bottle at a small pharmacy a few weeks ago and I bought because I like the way it smells.

THIS IS WHATS CAUSING HER RASH!! Holy Cow. It never dawned on me becuase I never though that her Hypoallergenic wash was causing it!

You would think, i had heard about Q...15 thru a few freinds and i hadnt heard any thing about b4 so i lookd it up on line and well im not takin any more chances i was buying huggies for long time but zellers where i was buying it has stopped carring this brand and walmart too isnt carring it so hmmm i wonder
